About

Aisha Tyler's talent and versatility have sparked her rapid ascent in Hollywood.  Her hot-streak stint at the head of E! Entertainment's Talk Soup landed her firmly in the Hollywood spotlight and revitalized the Emmy-winning show, which she was the first woman and African-American to captain.   After leaving Talk Soup, Aisha moved quickly into television and film roles, enjoying another first - the first African-American to play an extended character arc on NBC's Friends.  She co-starred with Jennifer Love Hewitt in the CBS hit Ghost Whisperer, had recurring roles on two of television's top dramas--CSI and 24, and has made numerous appearances on shows, including, Nip/Tuck,  Curb Your Enthusiasm, Reno 911, The Boondocks and more. She is currently voicing the character of sexy, superspy Lana Kane on FX's new hit, animated series "Archer," which debuted in January 2010, as the highest rated new show in FX history.
In 2009, Aisha returned to her stand-up comedy roots, starring in a hilarious one-hour special for Comedy Central, "Aisha Tyler is Lit:  Live at the Fillmore."  The special is now a dvd available everywhere, that includes additional, behind-the-scenes footage and a music video she wrote and stars in—the rap video spoof "Noassitall."  Aisha has used her trademark wit in multiple appearances on The Tonight Show, Late Night with David Letterman, The Today Show, Politically Incorrect, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and The Late Late Show and more.   Aisha has had roles in Adam Sandler's hit, Bedtime Stories, the crime drama "Death Sentence" opposite Kevin Bacon and the Universal comedy "Balls of Fury," with Christopher Walken.  She completed filming "Black Water Transit," a film set in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, directed by iconic Brit Tony Kaye and starring Lawrence Fishburn. Aisha also had roles in ".45," opposite Milla Jovovich, and "Santa Clause III" with Tim Allen.
Aisha is a celebrated author, having released the successful "Swerve:  Reckless Observations of a Post-Modern Girl" in 2004.  A collection of hilarious comic essays on pop-culture, the book has been praised for its frank and funny look at what it's like to be a girl.  Aisha is also a frequent contributor to Glamour Magazine, for which she has written pieces about the media's unrealistic portrayal of feminine beauty.
Aisha has many additional interests.  An avid video game player, she was named to the exclusive seven-member Halo game counsel.  She does a substantial amount of charitable work, as well, acting as a spokesperson for the American Red Cross, teaching Dove self-esteem workshops for teenage girls, consulting with the Trust for Public Land's Parks for People project, and fund-raising for Doctors Without Borders, the Family Violence Prevention Fund and the International Rescue Committee.  She's also the reigning Celebrity Jeopardy champ.
Critical acclaim for Aisha has been effusive. Esquire called Aisha "sweetly wicked," designating her one of its "Women We Love". TV Guide called her one of television's  "In Crowd." Maxim anointed her one of its "Hot 100" two years in a row.

    Absolutely Hilarious Comedy Show

by Morpheus414 on 4/23/14House of Blues Houston - Houston

This was honestly one of the best experiences of my life--a KILLER seat for 25 dollars, good food, and the best show I've ever seen. My only complaint was that it didn't last forever.

    Talented but too much profanity

by VBFanatic on 4/22/14Wilbur Theatre - Boston

Aisha is very talented, but at times the profanity got in the way of the monologue. If she had kept it at bay, we would have enjoyed it much better. The opening act was VERY good, funny very worth the evening.

    Best comedy performance ever

by MarikoTrue on 4/22/14Wilbur Theatre - Boston

Best comedy performance ever, even made me forget about a previously stressful parking place search. My seat was at one of the small tables, near but not at the stage. This seating allowed the bonus of a server taking and delivering the drink order. I have been to the Wilbur frequently and find that as long as I sit in the Orchestra area (floor level) I am always satisfied with my seating. All Wilbur Theatre employees that I interacted with were helpful and polite. Unfortunately I arrived 15 minutes late (thank you to usher who took my guest and I directly to our seats) so I missed half of the opening comedian’s act and never heard his name. The portion that I did hear was smart and entertaining. Aisha’s set began with a music video. It literally and figuratively set the tone for what was to follow. This video should be submitted for an award. Access Aisha Tyler’s IMDB, she does it all. However, I believe that it offers incontrovertible proof that Aisha Tyler owns the one true (Hermione Granger’s?) Time Turner. Occam’s razor would indicate that this is the only possible conclusion. Aisha’s set was much more than funny; it was an improv/comedy-set/one act play combination. She even vocalized her own sound effects. Her jokes were in story format and each one was riveting. Aisha, even though ill, never lost her focus or ability to contact with the audience. After what must have been an exhausting set, she cheerfully participated in a meet and greet with an economy size bottle of Purell behind her chair. She talked to me, signed my book, and posed for a picture all with an energy level that was almost super-human in view of her performance only minutes ago and a cold. Her standup is not for those who are easily shocked. Aisha Tyler’s standup is for people who love to laugh at the world and political incorrectness. For preparation, listen to her podcast, “girl on guy” (free on iTunes) and glance (but it is worth a thorough read) at her book “Self Inflicted Wounds: Heartwarming Tales of Epic Humiliation”. Even reading the book’s title gives an accurate summary of Aisha Tyler as courageous, selfless, adventurous and just plain funny. Aisha Tyler has a brain, which needs no upgrades and the ability to entertain all of us. See her, listen to her and enjoy.

    Better than Expected

by Aliciakins on 4/22/14Wilbur Theatre - Boston

I got these tickets for my spouse since they love Archer. Aisha Tyler was hilarious. I wasn't sure how funny she'd be but she didn't disappoint.

    Aisha Tyler was too vulgar

by JBLSharon on 4/22/14Wilbur Theatre - Boston

I really wanted to like and enjoy Aisha Tyler but as hard as I tried I did not. She was far too vulgar and used too many profanities. They were not necessary and in fact detracted from her stand up routine.

Aisha Tyler was amazing! We sat in the first row of the balcony - the view was partially obstructed by the railing as the angle to the stage is very steep. However, sitting back a few rows would have been fine. The venue had two bars downstairs and one upstairs. We did not try the food, but the drinks were strong (and that's good!).

I love you Aisha, House of Blues not so much!

by ChicagoinHouston on 4/15/14House of Blues Houston - Houston

Aisha is totally an awesome comedian, she tells great stories and makes you laugh until your side aches. It's great how she seems so in tune with the way the audience is thinking and how quick she reacts to the audience's response. She is one of the best and underrated comedians around today. I just feel so bad that she performed at the Houston House of Blues. She could do so much better. The Houston HOB was just pretty ridiculous. We arrived a little early so we wanted to grab some snacks, from their scant menu of popcorn, corn dogs, chicken fingers and chips. But unfortunately they were out of corn dogs and chicken fingers! REALLY?!?! How about some one on your staff run down stairs and bring some supplies up from the main restaurant? Oh forget it, give me a very small bag of popcorn for $3. Thanks, oh and can I have a couple of overpriced mixed drinks as well please! Thank god Aisha was there to take our minds off the House of Blues gouging. My only hope is that HOB takes better care of their artists than they do their patrons. Great performance by her and her opening comedian Ali Mafi. Two thumbs down to the House of Blues Houston venue.

by Kiimmee on 4/15/14House of Blues Houston - Houston

Aisha and Ali were just awesome. I was so happy to find out she was retuning to Houston. She generously stated after for a meet and greet. My only wish...she'd had more merch for sale, they ran out b4 I could get anything. I'd go see her again in a minute.

Show was great - Venue poorly organized

by Kittytreats on 4/15/14House of Blues Houston - Houston

Aisha and Ali were amazing! We really enjoyed the show! However, the venue was poorly organized. Doors did not open on time, there was a huge line of people waiting to get in because the doors opened late. The rows of chairs by the stage were so close together that you had to exit your seat and row to let anyone else in or out. And after the show was over, there was no organization for the merch table/autographs/photos. Even though we were in line for over an hour, it did not move because staff kept allowing people to cut in whatever make shift line there was. On top of that another large group of people came in and had to walk in between the line to get to where they needed to go causing even more confusion. This could have been handled so much better!

I really love Aisha Tyler. She touches on all topics and nothing is too offensive or raunchy. She's one of my favorite comedians.

    Hotel Sex

by hamofabe on 6/13/13Cobb's Comedy Club - San Francisco

Aisha has a mouth on her, but I love it. She says what wants I'm enthralled through it all. The best part, along with her entire set, was the meet and greet afterwards. She is insistent on meeting her fans and it shows. If you ever have a chance to see Aisha do stand-up do not pass up the opportunity.

Aisha Tyler - my kind of woman!

by LC84 on 6/10/13Cobb's Comedy Club - San Francisco

If you've never seen Aisha Tyler, she is a must! As a woman, I totally appreciate her humor and point of view. She has both that masculine and feminine side of her. She just gets it!! I laughed my butt off! I would definitely go see her again.

    Non-stop laughs!

by InventiveNickname on 6/10/13Cobb's Comedy Club - San Francisco

I took my husband along to the show even he wasn't familiar with Aisha. He had as much fun as I did during the show. Her opening comic is talented and funny. They are a great match. Aisha was spot on with her observations and super funny. She's very animated and moves around the whole stage. Anyway the whole show rocked. I would love to go again. One gripe: the show started an hour late.
