My experience was very good at this event last week.
I enjoyed the games. I did not like having my bank account being charged twice! The venue leaked after the storm came through. The popcorn was the worst I’ve ever had. The bottom of the bag was nothing but kernels that were not popped. The rest that was popped were over cooked & hard.
A couple of reasons prevented me from rating it a 5: First, $20 to park was ridiculous to me; Secondly, I think the event would be better with ushers in place for the heavily populated center section areas. Having people standing in the aisles and blocking other people’s views could be alleviated by having ushers.
I use to play for Spring Garden I never got the chance to get to play at legacy arena but my younger sister did in 2002,03,&04. love that school like family
The games was good but the concession stand was outrageous. Eleven dollars for a 20 oz bottle dronk and a box of M&M. plus ticket cost plus surcharges are outrageous.
Security needs to be behind the teams playing to deter parents/supporters from the other team from sitting directly behind the players taunting them, videoing them, and being very hateful. It’s a shame people act like that.
Crazy & scary night at the Legacy Arena!! Probably won’t come back considering security wasn’t doing their job. Medal detector goes off on people in front of us and lady doing security says go on in!
almost got shot, terrible and they wont even own up to it
Everything was going great until the end. The shooting definitely threw the vibes off.
It was great until shootings started happening inside after the game finished
Entry into the building was rated at “0” due to the absence of Metal detectors for a full body scan. The BJCC had one or two individuals of hand held scanners who were not scanning individuals entering. Although it was stated that gunshots occurred, individuals did indeed hear gunshots, and there would be no question of any form weapons that set off the scare that occurred during the afternoon game could have been prevented had the presence of metal detectors were present at entry into the building. Fighting in the arena would not set off such an event
I would like to see a more obvious law enforcement presence inside the arena to deter any outbreaks of fights.
Enjoyed the games and food was great! Not sure about what happened after the game.
It was an amazing game but the gun shots after the game weren't exactly the best.
i enjoyed the basketball game and i think it was amazing however i disliked the whole “shooter” incident at the beginning. i felt like the kids and parents there owe an explanation of what happened.
Poor planning of multiple high school basketball games on March 5 resulted in unnecessary chaos and fights that sent fans into lockdown. There should be at least 30+ minutes between the awards ceremony of the early game and the beginning of the next basketball game to allow fans from the earlier game to leave and fans of the next game to be seated. It would also help to have 1/2 the divisions play Friday and the other half play Saturday. Friday should be divisions 2, 4, and 6 and Saturday games should be divisions 1, 3, 5, and 7….that way the larger crowds are divided between the days rather than the crowds building throughout the day. This was a big day for high school basketball and thoughtfulness about crowd control and respect for the teams should be deeply considered before next year’s tournament.
Are team cullman won but besides that I had to hide because of a apparent gun because security can’t do there job
The game itself was great! However it should have been my first clue when “security” let us walk straight in without checking anything and the metal detectors weren’t working. After the amazing game, we were walking down the concourse when gunfire started. People were diving for cover and getting trampled. I grabbed my kids and we ran for safety. I’m so happy we are ok. It was the scariest experience of our lives.
Great games until i noticed how security and the Birmingham police treated the young black children of Huffman before their game by making the kids wait in the mezzanine until the 6A girls game had concluded. However the white kids of Vestavia flooded the aisles where they set themselves on the stairs blocking the walkways and moving the black kids who went to the concession stand for halftime personal belongings out of the way and took the black kids seat. This prompted me and my family to leave. I even pointed this out to several police officers and all of their responses were the same , not nothing. So SAD
never want to experience fear like that ever again💓
