Not what I expect
by MaryAPDom on 3/8/18Apollo Theater - New YorkI expect more african music, but was more Pop and Tecno. There were 4 presentations. The third one was the only authentic african music with modern influence (tecno)

I bought my ticket to see Jeff Mills -- little did I know that I would be adding all of the Africa Now! artists who performed that night to my music list, and expand my ears. It was an emotional experience setting foot in the Apollo, a historic space visited by legends; and the sound + the setting was unforgettable. Everything about the scene was perfect.
I went specifically for Ayo, the opening act. Wish Ayo had an hour to perform! The remaining performers were good, but it was more afrotechno music. Not really my style, nonetheless it was interesting.
The show was good each artist brought a different perspective to African dance music. Black coffee needs to have his own longer show 30 mins is not enough!
Performance was out of this world but don’t splurge on the seats cuz seats were not honored. Everyone was standing and dancing wherever they wanted as it should be.
First time so I am not familiar with bands ,but I love love the first two acts, but more so the first band.
We all had a great time, the music and the atmosphere were very enjoyable
Really really good..host was awesome. Artists very talented. I had not heard any of their music before but i was dancing and had a great time once they started playing.
An exciting show of mostly unheard artists from Africa with interesting sounds and rhythms. They certainly had the audience on their feet many times during the evening.
I loved all the concert! Amazing from start to finish. All the artists were fabulous!
