    Thunder Nationals Show alright.

by JSunshine on 3/7/10Pensacola Civic Center - Pensacola

I took my 6 yr old grandson and we both really enjoyed it........... However, we both expected more Monster Truck Action and No Clown jazz... The announcer was too loud (like he was at a wrestling match) and he tried too hard to be funny. It seems as though the show was more about the announcer/clown funny act and not the Real Men in the Monster Trucks and "their" driving stunts! We want more Monster Truck and LESS of the Rest........ But Thanks for asking.

    Thunder Nationals(MONSTERJAM)

by sissa04 on 3/7/10Pensacola Civic Center - Pensacola

I def. was NOT impressed with this event! If I would've known that the building was this small I NEVER would have even waisted 105.00 dollars. I thought that the show was really poor. The monster trucks didnt even do anything but pretty much go in circles. I have went to other Monster Jams in other states and this one was by far the WORST. I felt bad that my kids didnt have a good time and really wish I could get a refund. We left & went to the beach instead and the speakers sounded very muffled we could not hear anything they were even saying!

I have been to a few Monster Truck shows and I have to admit, even tho this was good, they were better. NO dirt, what's up with that??? Also, when anyone was speaking you could not understand a word they were saying

gotta go bigger but it was good

by Mommobile on 3/7/10Pensacola Civic Center - Pensacola

Thought it would be a dirt arena. Was worth it to take the kids. Will definitely see a larger show somewhere not too far away. Ford only offers free pit passes in the town that the show is in...I'm not traveling once to get passes and then once for the show...should address this issue. Couldn't understand the main MC and a few speakers, but others we could...who knows, bad sound system? Glad there was an autograph session afterward. Glad we went for our first time and it was only 21/5 hrs away from where we live.

by ShortThumbs on 3/7/10Pensacola Civic Center - Pensacola

The Thunder Nationals was awesome. I wish there was a bigger stadium with bigger stunts and jumps and dirt. The donuts were the best. Thanks very much for the awesome show you all put on.

    Worst rally EVER!

by ccu01118 on 3/7/10Pensacola Civic Center - Pensacola

This was by far the worst Monster Truck rally I have ever experienced! First, there wasn't even any dirt down on the arena! That might have been forgivable if there was more truck action! Within a 2 hour show there was only 15 minutes of actual trucks. The rest was just filler via a clown and walking Taco Bell ads! I did not pay $70 to watch 1 hour 45 minutes of the YMCA, a dancing taco and packet of hot sauce, and a 30 minute intermission. We (us and another couple) asked for our money back very early in the show and were given the run around. Highly doubt that at this point they will give it back to us. MONSTER JAM CAN NOT COMPARE TO THE GOOD OLD DAYS OF BIGFOOT!

This was a horrible show. I am not hard to please, but this is close to me asking for my money back. Most of our time was spent watching 4 wheeler riders argue and listening to the horrible announcer.

Tremendously loud...a must see for Pensacola area!

by TurbineDoc on 3/7/10Pensacola Civic Center - Pensacola

This is a smaller venue than most of the Thunder National arenas. But, that is no way a negative for the event. Yes it's smaller, but, the trucks are the same no matter where you go. The excitement from a monster truck getting vertical and still landing on all fours is amazing! Grave Digger, Mopar Magic, Stone Crusher, Instigator, Reptoid and El Toro Loco put on a spectacular show. Awesome donuts and fantastic airborn jumps during the show made the kids (and growm ups) cheer! All of this in a concrete floor arena. It would have been better on dirt, but, the location and size of the nevent were very special. To have the Advance Aauto Parts Thunder Nationals Monster Truck compatitoin at Pensacola was great. My son and two grandsons were there and we all had a great time. A definite return visit when they come back is going to happen!

Thunder Nationals insults intelligence of audience

by jandd33 on 3/7/10Pensacola Civic Center - Pensacola

It is my opinion that: On a scale of 1 - 5 with 5 being best, this show barely made a ranking of "2". Knowing that the trucks had two shows the following day, it was evident that the drivers did not perform to their abilities in order to preserve their vehicles. This was to be expected knowing that the cost of repairs can be extreme and they still have to perform the next day. The four wheelers; when running was also okay given the small space they had to run. The commentator was ridiculous. The sound was horrible, his microphone was constantly breaking up, and his theatrics were far less than acceptable, and the “staged” Florida ~vs~ Alabama “battle” between the 4-wheel riders was pitiful. As far as I am concerned, the commentator should retire and the Clown should take over his job. The clown was able to pump the crowd and was far more entertaining. Far more time was spent on the theatrics between runs than on the trucks and four wheelers. In a two hour show there were less than 45 minutes of truck movement and 4-Wheeler racing. This was the third time that our family attended the Thunder Nationals event in Pensacola, and probably the last.

    Monster Truck Jam

by Angela9951 on 3/7/10Pensacola Civic Center - Pensacola

I love going to this event every year. The only down side to it is they have a lot of "filler" during the show. The trucks don't get to do much except jump over junk cars and then spin in a circle. I think the trucks should be more involved in the show. One just sat there and never moved. I will keep going just because I love big trucks and so do the kids, but wish the show included the actual trucks a little more.

Camera policy should be posted online

by tbase on 3/7/10Pensacola Civic Center - Pensacola

This would have been a 4 or 5 star event, but the camera policy left me with a bunch of poor quality camera-phone shots when I could have had some great pictures had I only known the policy. It only stated "No video cameras" here when I bought the tickets, so I was really looking forward to some great shots of the kids with the drivers at the Pit Party with my Nikon D40. When we got to the venue there were signs and I was told by a security guard that no cameras with detachable lenses were allowed. Had I known this, I had a perfectly good point-and-shoot camera I would have brought. Another thing to keep in mind, the smaller venues are nothing like what you see on TV, simply because of the space they have to operate. They had one small car stack, and had to be very careful about moving around in such a small space. I give the drivers credit for being able to safely get a little bit of air in such a confined space. Most only managed to wheelie, but a few times they actually got all 4 wheels in the air. The floor was also concrete instead of dirt. That combined with the small area made it difficult to do donuts. El Toro Loco actually flipped on it's side in the attempt. The advertising plugs were shameless. The pit passes are sort of like a free vacation you get for listening to a timeshare sales pitch. Worth it, but a bit annoying. There was what amounted to a 30 minute live informercial on Ford Trucks and Taco Bell between the Pit Party and the show. Other entertainment included a stuntman who jumped from the rafters to a stunt-man's airbag on the floor, a clown who was actually quite funny and entertaining, and some ATV races with a backstory that rivaled pro wrestling (Alabama vs. Florida, being in Florida the Alabama team leader did the whole "the other team sucks and so does this crowd" schtick, and there were complaints of tampering with the equipment. Very lame, but most of the kids seemed to enjoy it- which might be a problem for some if you don't feel adults should give a bad example for kids, even (or especially) in entertainment. Overall I'm glad we went as my boy is such a huge monster truck fan. I just could have done without the informercial, pro-wrestling angle of the ATV races, and lack of info about the camera policy on the ticketmaster and monsterjam websites. A final thought- I didn't mention the noise or fuel and tire smoke fumes because that should be expected by and obvious to everyone, as should 3 hot dogs, 2 waters and a bucket of popcorn costing $18.

    Lack Luster at Best

by MichaelEnderson on 3/7/10Pensacola Civic Center - Pensacola

I have been attending the Thunder Nationals since I was a small child and I am now 29. I remember when the show was amazing Jet Cars and Trucks and Quads and Monster transforming Car Eating machines. I attended the 2010 event in Pensacola FL last night and event was poorly attended and ran. It just seemed like more time killing went on than monster truck racing. They had a stupid clown that took up over half the show time. For the money this was a complete waste of time and money. Very dissatisfied with the down hill sloop that this show has taken and most likely will not waste the money next year but rather I will consider traveling several hours to be better location such as New Orleans for the show that is put on there.

Thundernationals was the worst truck show ever.

by MikeJones2244 on 3/6/10Pensacola Civic Center - Pensacola

I have been to several Monster truck events and even the one here in Pensacola last year. This was by far the worst I have ever been to in my life. I brought 3 children ages 4 to 9 and what a waste of money and time. The announcer used foul language and crude jokes, in addition to being crass and NOT entertaining. The clown they brought out spent his time making bathroom jokes and being obnoxious. The guys that raced quad wars called the audience stupid and told them to shut up. They staged this whole argument and fight between team Alabama and Team Florida after each race and were generally obnoxious. The quad racing itself was just six potbellied rednecks running around on 4 wheelers. Look, I realize that there is limited space at an indoor venue for monster truck racing, I knew that going in but I have been to shows before that were at least entertaining. I spent half my time trying to distract my 4 year old twins from the language and attitudes on display during breaks in the racing. The drivers of the trucks MUST have been embarrassed to be associated with these announcers, the clown, and the quad "racers". The only people in this event with any class were the truck drivers themselves and the stuntman who jumped from the rafters. The rest was an embarrassment and they should be ashamed for taking my money and wasting my time. The announcer should be fired and if they cannot improve the quality of the show it should not continue. I certainly wont be back. And that is a shame because I am an avid motorsports fan and the center of your target audience.

    Monster Truck Jam 2010

by Hotpink41 on 3/6/10Pensacola Civic Center - Pensacola

It was fun, but not as exciting as the past few years we have been. The MC's voice is soo muffled you cannot really understand what he is saying--and BTW I did not agree with the jumper--there were way to many YOUNG kids watching, and that looked to be very dangerous for them to see!!
