About

Prolific avant-garde electronic duo ADULT. continue to mine their own unique sound on their triumphant and chilling new album, Perception is/as/of Deception. Conceived and recorded in a temporary blackhole they created by painting their windowless basement entirely black, the duo's sole intention was to deprive their senses, question their perceptions, and witness the resulting ramifications.

    WRFL Birthday Bash- ADULT.

by JoeyPan on 4/25/17University of Kentucky - Lexington

Without a doubt, if you are into electronic music (in any of it's forms)- ADULT. is THE BAND to see & hear! The show was a little late starting. What show isn't? However, once the bands started playing, the opening bands went by pretty quick. I wasn't very into any of the opening acts, although each was unique in their own right. When the final opening band had played, and their equipment out of the way. ADULT. put their equipment center stage, and turned on the fog machines. By the time they came out to play- the venue (Cosmic Charlie's in Lexington, KY.) which is the size of a small warehouse, was a giant fog bank. You could barely see ten feet. Which is the way ADULT. wants it. The lights went off, and then the music started, with each beat bright white shop lights sitting on the stage would go on and then off. In the brief flashes, you could see Adam at his synths and keyboard. After a minute or so, you could hear Nicola singing, but no sight of her. Then as the song progressed, she came walking through the crowd from the back of the venue. Climbed up onto the stage and finished the set up there. They played an amazing mix of older songs, both popular and obscure. As well as two now songs. I was very impressed with the new material. As well as loving the classic stuff too. They played for over an hour, and that was still too short of a time. Between Adam's masterful electronic skills, and Nicola's deft execution of vocal emotion- with one mic or two- and delays and other effects. The lights, the fog, the crowd. It all made for an amazingly good time. I danced and jumped around so much, my legs, neck and feet are still sore three days later. Well worth it though, no pain no gain. I find myself still energized whenever I think about it, even now. I really wish they had played more, I would have loved another hour or two. When it was over, around midnight, the bar was still open till 2:30 A.M. , so you could sit down and have a drink and unwind, without the normal stress of a venue putting you out so they can close up and get home. This is a much welcome thing, when it is to be had. After around an hour or so, Adam and Nicola came out from back stage to start packing up their gear. When they saw that fans were still there, they immediately came down and socialized with everyone. They signed everything I had, and everyone else too. Took pics, and listened and talked with everyone who wanted. Two of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet. So full of talent, inspiration, intelligence, and still completely grounded and down to Earth. No egos here. Just genuine caring and interest with a totally humble appreciation for all they have gotten, done, and the fans who follow them through it all. Such a welcome and sadly all too rare an experience these days. Finally I will say this: IF YOU EVER HAVE THE CHANCE TO SEE ADULT. - DO YOURSELF AN AMAZING FAVOR AND GO! GO! GO!
