Ace Frehley Live in Concert

Born Paul Daniel "Ace" Frehley in Bronx, New York, Ace Frehley started playing the guitar at 13. He never went to a music school, nor did he ever take a guitar lesson since every member of his family played instruments. He spent the early '70s in a series of local bands. In 1973, he co-founded the American rock band KISS. He departed the band in 1982 and went on to lead a successful solo career. His 1978 solo output -- KISS: Ace Frehley (released as part of the KISS solo albums) -- went platinum. In 1984, he assembled, amongst others, drummer Anton Fig and bassist John Regan to form a group with a name that alternated between Ace Frehley and Frehley's Comet. This group recorded a series of demos throughout 1984 and 1985, and performed their first-ever live show at S.I.R. Studios in New York City on November 30, 1984. In 1987 he released Frehley's Comet and it charted on the Billboard 200. He subsequently returned to KISS in 1996 for a highly successful reunion tour. In 2004, he tied with Paul Stanley at No. 14 on Guitar World's list of the 100 Greatests Heavy Metal Guitarists of All Time. Frehley's influences include artists such as Jimi Hendrix and Albert Lee, among others. In 2014, Frehley, along with the original members of KISS, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His 2020 solo album Origins, Vol. 2, charted on the Billboard 200.

I saw Ace a few years back in San Antonio with LA Guns and Dokken. Ace rocked it and the set list was the tops. Better see these guys one last time before they can't come back around.

The venue is perfectly sized with great views from all seats, great service, good food and excellent security. I would recommend this venue for any show in any genre. Ace put on a rocking show, played and sounded great! My boyfriend and I were very pleased overall.

by Super Dave on 11/1/19Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Ace and his band sounded great! I felt like I was back in the 80's with great guitar playing and lots of energy. Ace still has the chops and sounded great! I love seeing Ace perform. The show was loud and my ears were ringing when I left!

  • Ace Rocked, Parking Sucked

by Kimberly H on 10/31/19Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

Third time seeing Ace. He rocked as always. Usually we love seeing shows at Hard Rock Live and parking is free after 6.....usually. However, if you happen to get tix for a show during the period they have Halloween Horror Nights at Universal, expect to get screwed for at least $26 for parking. It happened to be raining on this night so we chose to park at the Hard Rock Hotel as the walk is shorter than from the parking garages. We wound up paying $30.88 for parking there, but for another $3 we were closer, since we were getting screwed anyway. If Universal was smart they would still give free parking to people attending concerts at the HRL, if they show their tickets. Chance are I will not be attending any more concerts at HRL if they fall during the HHN period. It's the principle, and it pissed me off.

  • Still rocking!

by Pooch on 10/31/19Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

Ace’s playing was awesome to see and hear. A couple of the band members were dressed as if they have been living in mom’s basement since the 80’s and were lucky Ace gave them a purpose. They did sound awesome though! They should have turned it down a few notches for such a small place; it would have sounded clearer and I wouldn’t have had ringing in my ears for over a day. I will go again if he returns.

  • Kiss's Loss

    by C. D. on 10/30/19Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

Saw ex-KISS guitarist, Ace Frehley Sunday night and it was great! I always thought he was the best thing about KISS and saw him last with them in Jersey City, New Jersey way back in 1976... Ace was real cool and played like he was REALLY enjoying it and having fun while pleasing the crowd at the same time... He said "Deuce" is his favorite KISS song and another highlight was "Rock Soldier", run, don't walk, to see ACE LIVE!!!

  • Better than Kiss

by Csurr on 10/30/19Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

  • Ace Frehley at the Hard Rock Orlando

by Old Time Fan on 10/30/19Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

It’s a small venue without a bad seat in the place and a full bar just behind the floor seats. The sound was really good for such a small place. Ace was better than expected. Some folks start to lose a bit with age, but not Ace. His voice was the same as I remember and his playing was excellent. From the classic Kiss tunes of Parasite, She, Watching You, Detroit Rock City, Deuce and Shock Me to his solo work was spot on. Of course we got the guitar solo complete with the smoking guitar. The whole show was awesome. I’ve seen Ace twice with Kiss, but this was the first time as a solo artist. When he comes around again, I’ll be there.

  • Ace is a great great show!

  • ACE and his band were totally amazing

by Chris G on 10/30/19Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

ACE and his band were totally amazing Each member of the band is an amazing musician in his own rights. Bring them all together and you have pure excellence with some of the best classic Rock sounds one could wish for. Clean, clear, loud, and just how it should be☺

  • Amazing Ace!

by Rhonda on 10/30/19Hard Rock Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 3 out of 5

Ace & his musicians are gifted & talented. I enjoyed listening to the music. Listening was all I could do! The Hard Rock venue itself was quaint & intimate, which is always a good thing, but I saw nothing! There is no incline on the floor. As soon as Ace began to play, everyone stood up, as usual, which is fine & I don't mind, but with no incline to the floor, even standing up I saw absolutely nothing but the giant heads on tall people in front of me. Next, these same people held their phones over their heads & recorded the entire concert, thus blocking any chance of seeing anything at all, even more. There were two unused video screens, one on each side of the stage. It would have worked out if the screens had been used to at least let me see something on the stage! I actually had a good seat, and if the floor had been on an incline, it would have been perfect. Otherwise, Ace & his band play great music! I listened, but would like to have seen them perform. I finally figured out to walk up to the top behind seating to watch, but by then it was over.
