We didn't know exactly what to expect. Sometimes that's best I guess. Seriously, we haven't laughed this hard or this much in a long time. The characters were great and the acting and adlibbing was some of the best we've ever seen. Thanks for the laughter.
I laughed even harder at this year's performance than I did last year. Will definitely go back and take more family members. Total entertainment!!
Chucklemeter: barely registered a good laugh all evening. We smiled but that's about it. Song meter: "You won't see this at the Ordway." True that. Story meter: Cute variation of Dickens Christmas Carol. Afterglow meter: our guests were too polite to comment.
A Minnesotan understands well the humor depicted in this version of 'Scrooge'. Like calling it 'Don't Hug Me' since Midwesterners are known as passive-aggressive. Even the song titles are funny by themselves. 'Love You More Than Football' and 'What Would Barbra Streisand Do?'- to name a few. Since then I saw another play in this series in 2011, 'Don't Hug Me County Fair'. It was at Camp Bar in downtown St. Paul. I liked it as well due to understanding the humor well, like seeing the wife bailing out the dim-witted husband. Since I majored in history I liked how they covered the subject of a county fair. Since fairs- county, state, and world- are often popular events. What is now Maytag Park in my hometown of Newton, IA, is a former county fairgrounds. I've been to state fairs in Iowa, Minnesota, and Texas. I would see another play in this series if there are any.
We loved it...took my parents and sister....we would definatly come again t another play like this one!!!!!
A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon...... Good script and good acting by a cast that obviously enjoyed entertaining the audience.
The talent in this show was very good. Costumes fine. The story was a little weak and boring at times.
I'm 27 and my parents are in their 60s. We all were just appalled at how bad it was. It was literally a "musical" (so tough to call it that) about farting and most of the actors were not funny. I am shocked that this got above 2 stars from anyone.
Really enjoyed the performance. All characters delightfully funny!
Four of us went to see the play and each of us were laughing so much we had tears in our eyes. The actors did a great job (ALL OF THEM)! I would definatly recommend this play.
As they say in Minnesota it was a 'Hoot'! Everyone enjoyed the show, even the performers were having fun! Just the sort of family Holiday experience I will suggest to my friends.
A wonderful, humorous poke at he denizens of Minnesota at Christmas.
The cast was extremely talented and funny. We were crying we were laughing so hard.
Enjoyed this play as a New Years Eve different thing to do.
Very fun evening. Campy and irreverent. Just be sure your children are mature enough or be ready to explain when questioned.
I was thoroughly impressed with this musical play; I enjoyed the red neck decor, costumes and jokes. The acting was very professional and the show was a real crowd pleaser. I would definately recommend this to someone to view.
With the exception of the actress who played Tiny Tim and the actor who played Robert Gou let (Spelling?) ...the play was terrible and the songs were even worse.
This is one of the best comedy, but sometimes serious and sentimental) plays we've been to. We brought our 16 year and 20 year old grandkids for a Christmas present and they enjoyed it as much as we did. The only downside was difficulty finding the theater because a column blocks the signage. Allow plenty of time to get there if you're unfamiliar with Minneapolis. Would highly recommend to any age group over 12
The actors did an excellent job with their parts. The play was very funny and well worth seeing.
