A Charlie Brown Christmas on Tour
Christmas comes but once a year, and so does A Charlie Brown Christmas, the Charlie Brown-iest of seasonal theatrical spectacles. Based on the Emmy- and Peabody-winning 1965 animated television special inspired by artist Charles M. Schulz's classic Peanuts comic strip, which ran from 1950 to 2000, A Charlie Brown Christmas has been an evergreen holiday event since 2013.
Set amid the wintry delights of Schulz's Minnesota childhood, A Charlie Brown Christmas finds the Peanuts gang working out the true meaning of Christmas for themselves in a world devoid of adult supervision. And if, like the musical's title character, you suffer from unfulfilled seasonal expectations, you'll find a natural palliative in composer Vince Guaraldi's jazzy score, which has sold more than four million copies since its initial release thanks to the irrepressible swing of songs like "Linus and Lucy," "Skating" and "Christmas Time Is Here."
About A Charlie Brown Christmas
Commissioned by the Coca-Cola company, A Charlie Brown Christmas was pitched, written and produced on a tiny budget for television in a flash in 1965. It became an unexpected hit and a holiday perennial on the strength of its delightful translation of the comic strip's iconic child cast to the small screen. The stage adaptation, authorized by the Schulz family and producer Lee Mendelson, retains everything delightful about the TV special, which was written by veteran TV director Bill Melendez.
As his friends skate and cavort in their winter wonderland, a depressed Charlie Brown gets out of his seasonal funk with the help of Lucy, who suggests he direct a Christmas play. Against all obstacles, a truly Charlie Brown Christmas tree — puny and bereft of glitz and glory — inspires a moving message about the true meaning of Christmas. Jazz composer Vince Guaraldi's lively songs alternate with classic Christmas carols, and productions often conclude with an audience sing-along.

Loved all of the Christmas music and the True Meaning of Christmas. This live on stage show should be seen by everyone during the Christmas season. Thank you to the cast, crew, and creative team for putting on a phenomenal Christmas show. Can’t wait to see everyone at The Palladium in NYC Time Square.
The show was great it was a surprise for my sons 9th birthday and he really enjoyed himself
It was a wonderful show. Entertaining. The kids laughed and enjoyed it.
We really enjoyed this as a family!! We are 4 adults- the show is probably geared more towards kids, but we LOVED it!! The cast is amazing! The live music, songs, props, dancing- everything about it. At first you think it might be cheesy, but as we watched it and laughed (snoopy!) we were all in!! The end was filled with Christmas carols & the message really gets you in the mood for Christmas! Will definitely be telling all my friends with children to go next year! I do not understand the bad reviews- was it a different cast, or are these super picky people w/ overly high expectations? Not sure, but this cast is great & you can tell they really put their heart into it!
What a great new twist to a classic story! Music got a in the holiday spirit.
Charlie Brown Christmas was a blast. Great show, great music, massively entertaining. I am amazed it was only on for one night. They must have worked their butts off to put on that great a show.
The show was fantastic! My granddaughter truly enjoyed it and I had fun watching her become a fan. It brought tears to my eyes. It was just as the cartoon brought to life! I would definitely recommend it and would love to see it again.
Concession stands where to high and it wasn't worth the money
The characters pretty much followed the origianl Charlie Brown Christmas story. I really liked where they added the Christmas carols at the end.
Terrible show. Cannot believe I spent money to sit and watch that. It was torture. Left at intermission.
I'm sorry I expect more. It was truly a musical. Not what I was expecting. Maybe I should have read more about it. I took a 4 yr old. They are not fans of musicals. I was hoping reenactment of the Charlie Brown Christmas movie.
UNABLE ON THE TICKET ORDERING SYSTEM TO GET PROPER SEATING. GREAT DIFFICULTY GOING UP STAIRS. AFTER GETTING TO THE TOP, I WAS INFOREMD THERE WAS AN ELEVATOR REIGHT BY MY ROW OF SEATS. UNSURE OF YOUR OREDERING SYSEM I COULD HAVE PICKED ROW A, B, OR C. THE PERFORMANCE WAS EXCELLENT
I took my two 7 year old nephews to the play and they totally enjoyed it! I bought each of them a stuffed Snoopy toy which they held up whenever Snoopy came on stage. The toy was well made and reasonably priced. I wish the play was cheaper so more families might attend. The arena was only partially filled.
We were disappointed in the quality of the show for the price. We felt as though it was a community theater level performance and should have been a quarter of the price to attend.
Didnt like how they tried making it different and keeping the original. Do you really need to make a 30 minute cartoon a 2 hour show? All the different scenes didnt seem appropriate. Snoopy could of been a dog costume and then 20 minutes of Christmas carols after the way the story was supposed to end. Just wish they would of kept it simple like the original im used to
The ticket prices were outrageous for what it was and also the main floor was not convenient to access, only one way in and out. The the price of those floor tickets we should have had better access.
I had been expecting a group to wear heads of the characters, but they didn't, which is fine. I loved the fact that they left the part in of Linus reciting the verses in the Bible about Christ's birth. Then, at the end, they added a "Christmas Show" which is not in the original TV show. I loved that for the finale with the Christmas show, that they were singing traditional Christmas Carols, that tell the true meaning of Christmas.
It was absolutely horrible! We took our grandkids and they asked to leave at intermission and we obliged. Practically ran to the car. Tickets were so overpriced. They should have paid us to go. Trust me on this, save your money!
We had a good time at the show. Reliving the lessons of what Christmas is about. The live music was a treat. The singing, dancing and overall experience left us smiling all the way home. The venue had a problem with the women's restrooms on the 2nd level that created some difficulties, but that wasn't a reflection of the quality of the show.
