A Charlie Brown Christmas on Tour
Christmas comes but once a year, and so does A Charlie Brown Christmas, the Charlie Brown-iest of seasonal theatrical spectacles. Based on the Emmy- and Peabody-winning 1965 animated television special inspired by artist Charles M. Schulz's classic Peanuts comic strip, which ran from 1950 to 2000, A Charlie Brown Christmas has been an evergreen holiday event since 2013.
Set amid the wintry delights of Schulz's Minnesota childhood, A Charlie Brown Christmas finds the Peanuts gang working out the true meaning of Christmas for themselves in a world devoid of adult supervision. And if, like the musical's title character, you suffer from unfulfilled seasonal expectations, you'll find a natural palliative in composer Vince Guaraldi's jazzy score, which has sold more than four million copies since its initial release thanks to the irrepressible swing of songs like "Linus and Lucy," "Skating" and "Christmas Time Is Here."
About A Charlie Brown Christmas
Commissioned by the Coca-Cola company, A Charlie Brown Christmas was pitched, written and produced on a tiny budget for television in a flash in 1965. It became an unexpected hit and a holiday perennial on the strength of its delightful translation of the comic strip's iconic child cast to the small screen. The stage adaptation, authorized by the Schulz family and producer Lee Mendelson, retains everything delightful about the TV special, which was written by veteran TV director Bill Melendez.
As his friends skate and cavort in their winter wonderland, a depressed Charlie Brown gets out of his seasonal funk with the help of Lucy, who suggests he direct a Christmas play. Against all obstacles, a truly Charlie Brown Christmas tree — puny and bereft of glitz and glory — inspires a moving message about the true meaning of Christmas. Jazz composer Vince Guaraldi's lively songs alternate with classic Christmas carols, and productions often conclude with an audience sing-along.

Charlie Brown Christmas Live was a great show for all ages. Is a yearly tradition to watch it yearly at Christmas time. Enjoyed it so much! Snoopy was our absolute favorite!
Show was great. Two issues that really dampened the experience. One: there was no printed program and no QR code; this meant we had no idea who the actors and musicians were, nor members of the crew that collaborated to put on the show. Two: the insertion of the extended "Jingle Bells"scene seemed long, and totally filler--could have been shortened or eliminated (and thereby production would be a full /no intermission/ 60 or 75 minutes instead of a "stretched to 90 mins. with one intermission."
This play missed the mark for holiday events and for staying true to a “Charlie Brown Christmas”. The choreography was odd and too much dancing rather than acting the story. The “snow ball fight” was too long and if you weren’t in the first couple of rows forced you to sit awkwardly for too long. We left at intermission and I’ve never done that before. Very disappointed. I’m a lifelong Snoopy fan and this was just bad.
The show was adorable, not only did the kids enjoy it, but the adults did too! The best part was the ushers. My dad is in a wheelchair and everyone was so kind and accommodating. They went above and beyond to make sure he was good!! Thanks for that, 10 out 5 stars for customer service at the Taft
Adorable play. Characters were perfect! The kids enjoyed it!
Took my 12 year old granddaughter hoping for a great experience. And was not disapointed
This was our second year. We love the show. Great facility and fun for kids of all ages.
I am a 4 year old and took my mom, dad, nonna, g pa and zia to see A Charlie Brown Chritmas. We had great seats. It was a fun show, just like the cartoon. Snoopy was my favorite character. Go see it if you can.
Took my 2 yo grandson. He was enthralled as was I. Songs, dancing, it was fantastic.
