    New Family Tradition

by CC on 12/17/19Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

Many of us who grew up going to the Alabama Theater, whether school field trips or a special family movie, are now grandparents. These events give us the opportunity to share the magic of this amazing historic theater with our children and grandchildren. Even our 2-year-old was in awe as she pointed and commented "Oh Wow" as she viewed the beauty of the theater. What started out 5 years ago as a single outing with a sibling and our respective grandchildren has turned into a 3-generation family tradition. We get to relive old memories and make new ones. Our grandchildren love exploring the theater from top to bottom, so we make sure we arrive in plenty of time for that. The pre-show sing-a-longs are priceless! These times spent here with our families will be cherished memories forever!

    Officially a Christmas Tradition

by Ani on 12/17/19Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

The Alabama Theater is absolutely gorgeous, and it was so much fun watching Christmas classics in such a beautiful setting. The whole experience was like a time machine, and I can’t wait to include more family and friends next Christmas. I’ll even be on the lookout for more events throughout the year just so that I can revisit this location. Do yourself a favor and pay $5 to park in the deck at McWane - depending on the time of day, street parking is nonexistent.

    A wonderful family time!

by Jewel on 12/18/18Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

We arrived about 30 minutes before the movie started. It was very busy already. My husband parked in the McWane Center parking deck. Why isn’t there a cut through to get to the theatre easily? The movie experience was very good. We had a great time. My granddaughter loves the disappearing organ. The sing-a-long was fun for all. There was a technical difficulty in the middle of “Rudolph”. The only suggestion I would make is that someone should have turned up the lights more quickly and announced they were aware and working on it. No one said anything which left the audience to wonder. The audience was full of families with children. I highly recommend it for a family time. We had a ball! If you don’t like being around noisy children, don’t go to a cartoon matinee.

My little guests were disappointed that Frosty the Snowman was not shown as advertised.

    Absolutely wonderful Christmas family experience!

    by Ruthanne123 on 12/19/17Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

Absolutely wonderful Christmas memory made at this event! I took my two grand-daughters who are 5 and 7. What a treat to see not only the beauty and "magic" of the theater itself - They were in awe! - but also to experience seeing Big Bertha come up from the stage floor! What a surprise! The organist's introduction (which was so welcoming and "down-home"), along with the "sing-along" made us feel like we were in someone's living room at Christmastime. Truly a fun afternoon that our family will continue to incorporate each year as part of our Christmas traditions! I recommend it highly!

    My childhood revisited

by ZQueenB on 12/25/16Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

The lineup was changed to a peanuts Christmas, Rudolph the red nose reindeer, and the Grinch who stole Christmas. I was very very happy to see the peanuts Christmas as that is what I've not seen in several years. The showing was wonderful, the Alabama theater is always beautiful and the staff friendly and accommodating.

    Making Memories at Cartoon Matinee

    by Snowman1234 on 12/22/15Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

I enjoyed the beautiful scenery of Alabama Theatre and the decoration that were on display. I think it is wonderful thing to experience what it was like going to the movies in the 1920's. I love how the Alabama Theatre holds true to the time in which is was built but stills offers the modern conveniences of todays life. I love how the theatre shows the Christmas classics as well as old classics through the year. The organist did a wonderful job of bringing the spirit of Christmas with his abilities. Keep up the great job!

    Magical moments with our kids!

by ChirstmasJim on 12/23/14Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

THe theater was amazing, truly stupendous and classic architecture. Also massive. Our kids loved the organ music sing-a-long, and the movies. PARKING NOTE: The website for the theater says that parking is free at Central Parking lots. Once you get to the lot, it makes it seem like you have to pay. Do';t be fooled, you DO NOT HAVE TO PAY!
