Trout: great fun!
by LisaPMom on 8/26/12Cain Park - Cleveland HeightsHoot and a half 4-time Grammy nominees Trout Fishing in America have been together for 30+ years. They perform both "family-friendly" and "more adult" concerts. This was the former--everything fromTeddy Bears' Picnic through Pico di Gallo; of course The Window (interesting versions of nursery rhymes to a fast polka beat with a twist or three); hooray always for Alberta Postcard and the story of two guys from NW Arkansas stepping into weather 35 degrees below zero; and there was plenty from their latest album, Lookin' at Lucky. The Lullaby encore sent all the kids home with half-lidded eyes and the parents with big smiles. (No Trout concert is complete without an Ezra ballad!) First time for me at lovely Cain Park, an amazing community resource with easy parking, nestled down in a natural tree-lined hollow. 'Twas a warm summer's eve. Thanks to the venue for "keeping the flaps up" so we could catch the welcome breeze! Trout are wonderfully engaging. The third of us who knew most every word sang along, and by the end of the concert, most everyone else was, too. Little kids moved to the side aisle and danced away. So cool to see plenty of dads with their little ones. Just wish Ezra's mike had been set for sound as clear as Keith's. Ezra was a little garbled. Trout music is very verbal and clever. Need impeccable sound to truly appreciate! The guys connected with friends and old and new fans for hugs and pictures at the half and after, in their usual generous way. If you like your music smart, with prodigious technique and a sense of humor, and seek a concert you can enjoy with your lover, your kid, your best friend, and/or your grand mom--Trout is for you.
