THY ART IS MURDER IN CONCERT:
As the first extreme metal band to ever crack the Top 40 Down Under, Aussie deathcore band Thy Art is Murder has proven that mainstream popularity doesn’t have to come at the expense of your edge. The quartet hasn’t let commercial success temper their brutal sound one bit—their blistering brand of metalcore-meets-death metal is just as crushing as when they first started out, and their provocative lyrics are more incisive than ever. In concert the band is a maelstrom of aggression and powerful musicianship, flooring fans with hair-raising guttural screams, blistering blast beats, driving double bass, and intense breakdowns that provide ample opportunity for moshing. Fans love the band for their uncompromising sound and combative lyrics, and ticket buyers who want to thrash get exactly what they’re looking for any time the band takes the stage.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Thy Art is Murder formed in 2006 in the Sydney suburb of Blacktown and quickly built a strong following in the local deathcore scene. They released a demo collection in 2007 titled This Hole Isn’t Deep Enough for the Twelve of You and followed up in 2008 with their debut EP Infinite Death, a Top 10 success on the Australian independent charts. The band’s 2010 debut full-length The Adversary further established them as a major deathcore force, drawing them out for extensive touring alongside bands like Despised Icon and The Red Shore, but it was 2012’s Hate that really helped them break through. That album topped the independent charts and cracked the Top 40 on the Australian mainstream charts, a coup that led to performances at major festivals like Sydney’s Big Day Out. They solidified their crossover status in 2015 with their third album Hate, a Top 10 chart smash in Australia that also landed on charts in Europe and the US. Since then the band has toured tirelessly, blowing minds around the world with their ferocious sound and live-wire performances.
2nd time seeing them. They did not disappoint. So glad they toured with Kublai Khan also :)
Absolutely LOVED all the bands. Thy Art and Kublai killed it!!
Super dope show. Thy art is murder was amazing live and was the best show I’ve been to in awhile. So sick!
All the bands were great but TAIM is on another level. Those guys blew it out of the water! How the vocalist does all those different screams so quickly is beyond me! Ill definitely be seeing them again! 🤘🏻
Had tickets to see these guys in portland in 2019, finally got to see them this week. phenominal band, unreal pit, and cj sounded as good as he does on the albums. fantastic
One of the best shows i have attenyed to so far this year. Thy Art Is Murder put on a great show. They sounded phenomenal. They interacted with the audience all night long. Great show. Great band. Great experience. I will see them again today.
The show was amazing! The line up was incredible! My only “complaint” is the order of the lineup. My boys and I think undeath should have opened, followed by IAM, or Justice for the dammed. Justice for the dammed played their hearts out and imo should have been higher on the bill. They had the crowd moving. Kublai Khan killed it as always and Thy art is murder absolutely killed it! The venue was smaller than expected, and if you wanted to sit you had to pay $300 for a table of 4 seats or $150 for two seats and share a table with strangers. But all said and done the show was incredible
Entire show was great. Kublai Khan stole it. Thy Arts vocals were modified to be mostly growls or screeches. Not sure why McMahon chose that course. Didn’t care for that. Other than that it was good times and cool people.
Thy Art Is Murder's set was killer! The energy was great, the venue was awesome, and I honestly don't think I can say a singular bad thing about this show. I had so much fun at this show, I would definitely love to see them live again.
If you enjoy heavy music, Thy Art Is Murder is definitely a heavy hitter and should be on the very top of your list. These guys are just unbelievably awesome! My girlfriend and I saw them on their headliner for “The Back From The Gulag” tour w/ Brand Of Sacrifice, Currents and After The Burial. Wow what a run this was, these Aussie deathcore giants were just ridiculously good and the pit moved with their intro! \M/ Unreal talent!
I love this band, and i love this venue! Cant get any better unless you make the drinks cheaper! Lol!
I have to say, the vocalist is amazing for powering through with a migraine. I know what thise are like as I have experienced them many times, and I can attest, this guy has insane will power. Amazing music, great performance, and above all very dedicated!
I got a spot on the barricade in front of the stage but could only last for 2 bands, then had to get a drink and smoke. Lol.
Saw Thy Art in Indy at Old National. There were 4 other bands before then that were all good. As soon as Thy Art came on everything went crazy. They put on an amazing show and the music was incredible. I will definitely see them again asap! 10/10
all of the bands played amazing. got to meet 3 of the 5 bands that played and they were amazing humble down to earth people. the venue was cool, just wish it was a bit bigger for more moshing room!
The night was amazing. There was a huge moshpit. I enjoyed watching all the hardcore, metal, and death metal fans having a great time, passing the metal torch to the younger generation. Yeah, there were a couple of injuries, but that's what you get with bands like They Art is Murder and Kublai Khan, when you enter a moshpit, that is. All in all the bands were astoundingly talented in bringing their hearts and souls, and energy back to Indianapolis' venue, Old National Center. I love this venue, and I loved the energy, respect, and love that the bands bring to the stage for everyone including their fans! It was a great night for metal! 🤘🎶🔥
All four bands brought their A-games! Crowd was unstoppable and the bands fed them more energy as the night went on. Amazing experience
I've been listening since their Hate album! This band has been so fun to watch over the years, super entertaining, amazing performances, cool dudes. I would go again and again to see em' \m/
The lineup: nothing short of amazing. Thy Art Is Murder, After The Burial, Currents, and Brand of Sacrifice. All bands were excellent, ATB & Thy Art damn near sound like the album live. The show was awesome. The HoB sucks because the doors opened at 6 allegedly, show starts at 7, but the line to get in was wrapped around the building, causing most of us to miss the opening act: Brand of Sacrifice. And that’s who I was most excited to see, and although many of us showed up on time, or early, We missed it, because of House of Blues. Doors need to open earlier, or HoB needs to speed up the entry process, highly disappointed. If you plan on attending a show here, plan accordingly, since HoB does not… get there early, or you may miss some of the show.
First time seeing all 4 bands and my friends and I met CJ McMahon from Thy Art Is Murder.🤘🏻
