These classically-trained musicians have definitely found their groove, and it lies somewhere in between rock and Rachmaninoff. Jon Schmidt (piano), Steven Sharp Nelson (cello) Paul Anderson (production, videography) and Al Van Der Beek (production, songwriting), a.k.a. The Piano Guys, are more than just a musical act, they are a multi-media production team. Through innovative musical composition, cutting-edge technology, and a dash of humor, The Piano Guys produce entertaining videos (oftentimes shot in breathtaking locales) of themselves performing their own rendition of popular songs, classical compositions, movie soundtracks and moreâat times enlisting the help of talented guest vocalists. With YouTube as their portal, their videos have received hundreds of millions of viewsâpretty impressive for a fun-loving crew whose original intent was merely to showcase the instruments for sale at Andersonâs small piano shop. Initially shocked by their overwhelming success, theyâre now making the most of their time in the spotlight by embarking on a mission to âmake a positive impact in the lives of people all over the world.â Among their most widely viewed videos is âCello Wars (Star Wars Parody) Lightsaber Duel,â âBeethovenâs 5 Secrets,â and their covers of One Directionâs âWhat Makes You Beautifulâ and Coldplayâs âParadise.â When The Piano Guys announced that a LIVE concert tour was in the works, eager fans anticipated the chance to buy tickets to what promises to be a stunning onstage spectacle of sight and sound.
The Piano Guys are true showmen! Fantastic show! Would see them again in a NY minute.
This was our second Piano Guys concert in Charlotte, NC. We brought our adult daughter with us this time and she absolutely LOVED it. My only criticism is that there was far too much talking by the performers when I kept thinking I would rather hear far more music! Also, as with many performers, BRIGHT, BRIGHT lights were shown directly into the audience's eyes. Not fun when you get hit with one of them. You have to duck and dive! Other than those two issues, I would give the concert an A-. These guys are SO, SO talented.
It was so good, my wife and I wished it was longer!
Money well spent. The music, the videos, the warm sharing of personal details of their lives combined to make the night a huge success.
Piano Guys are the perfect blend of classical and current music with inspiration and humor. Entertainment at its finest. Their videos around the world are exciting and their dedication to their art is so encouraging to young and older musicians. Canât help but smile through the whole concert and hope they come back soon.
I have watched many of the Piano Guys videos so I was was excited to see they were going to be in Baltimore. I talked my husband (who is not a Piano guys Fan) as well as my son and his girlfriend into going with me. Despite everyone's reservations, a great time was had by all! The live music coupled with videos was amazing. The banter between Steven and Jon was fun. It was great that the finale was my favorite song. I look forward to seeing them again!
Great show. Music and videos were awesome. Definitely would see them again.
Great music, great story-telling, great lighting! I'd go see these guys again in a heartbeat.
This show was great! They are always so good and very entertaining!!
The Piano guys were amazing! I didnât want it to end! They are funny, entertaining and so incredibly talented!!
We have seen the Piano Guys several times. This was the BEST. Graphics excellent and the speaking venue very descriptive.
Went to see the Piano Guys and had the best time. Will go see them again when they come back.
The music was very enjoybale, and the entertainment value is unexpectedly high. Would highly recommend for couples and families both.
This is the second time my husband and I have seen The Piano Guys and they do not disappoint. This was a great show.
The Piano Guys were absolutely amazing musicians! We so enjoyed the concert show! So very talented. I highly recommend them for such a wonderful, entertaining evening!
They spent a lot of time talking, and there was 1 song performed with silly theatrics emphasized to the point where they really didnât even play the song. Wouldâve been nice to hear more actual music.
Wife and I are huge Piano Guys fans. 8th show that we have attended. 2 years ago we did 2 shows in one weekend, one in Washington DC and then the next night in Hershey, PA. So we are die hard fans. Not up to 50 shows, but we are trying. Anyway, I think Steve said it best on Wednesday night when he said that they have 80 videos, and I believe 10 albums, yet some parts of the show hark back to the first show we saw several years ago. Time to update the show, play more new songs, interspersed with a few oldies and change the humorous parts out for new segments. We love these guys, own all of their albums and listen almost daily so this suggestion comes from a place of love for all you do!
Itâs been a really tough two years so I have been so looking forward to an evening of beautiful music. They made us laugh and filled our hearts and souls with their performance! Thank you for lifting our spirits!
The Piano Guys were great, the slapstick comedy kept things light and moving. How Steve and Jon integrate various styles of music from different "eras"is so creative. Only downside, our group arrived separately, and the venue insisted some of us move to the lower level and not stay with original seats (and group). Thus, it wasn't a totally "shareable"experience.
Did a surprise for my wife, for our 10 year anniversary! She loves The Piano Guys and I am happy to say that the show was superb, we laughed, cried and got chills from their playing! We definitely recommend their show for anyone who wants to have an amazing date or just a great time in general.
