    Geezy Creezy

by Phillydwilliams on 5/17/11Coach House - Capistrano - San Juan Capistrano

My Gawd, These guys (and one incredible gal) are the best show in roots music one can possibly see. The ease that they play off each other and the level of musicianship are above anything I've ever seen. And I"ve seen them all. One can make a point for YES, ELP, or any number of "Jam" bands, but these guys are so tight and the music is so soulful.... How does one express the truth of a lifetime? Go see the KNITTERS for your answer!

Legends having fun and sounding awesome. Dave Alvin is mind blowing and of course John, Excene, DJ & Ronnie are legendary and still sound out of this world!!! Show was FAB! I am grateful these folks still play, it's life saving.

As usual, the Knitters rocked the world

by kimwalline on 5/20/10The Blue Note - Columbia

Many people go to Knitters shows because of the opportunity to See X+Dave Alvin together. They are missing the point. Everyone has heard the accoladeds about X -''the best band in America ' A title that they worked hard to get and sums them up well. But for true-blue country ballads, in the same vein as Pete Seeger, A better band cannot be found. John and Exene,s vocals continue to pull on the saddest part of my soul,Dave Alvin always delivers, and the drumming by D.J made you forget he was up there with a snare and a metal tub. This band it still in it's prime, and I have been seeing them going on 25 years. Do yourself a favor and check out the Knitters, X, Dave Alvin or John Doe or if you are really blessed, see Exene's band The original Sinners.

I have always been a hug fan of X but this will be the first time I have seen any members of the band perform live. I was worried that my expectations were too high or I wouldn't like the new sound. I was not disappointed and can't wait for them to come back to the area.
