RICK SPRINGFIELD IN CONCERT:
Rock superstar Rick Springfield has been wooing audiences with his polished voice and leading-man looks ever since his rise to fame in the early '70s. More than four decades later, he looks and sounds as good as ever, treating fans to an unforgettable evening of solo performance and storytelling on his Stripped Down tour. Taking time between each song to relay the touching and humorous stories that inspired them, Springfield has proven that his talents as an entertainer extend well beyond his musical abilities. Whether fans catch him solo or performing with a full band, they can count on plenty of showmanship and charisma as he works his way through nostalgic hits like "Jesse's Girl" and "Don't Talk to Strangers."
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Australian-born Rick Springfield began playing the guitar at age 13, cutting his teeth in several bands in England after his army officer father relocated the family there in 1958. After a stint fronting the British band Zoot in the late '60s, Springfield launched his solo career in 1971 with debut single "Speak to the Sky," a Top 10 hit in his native Australia. After releasing several moderately successful albums in the '70s, Springfield hit his stride in 1981 with Working Class Dog, a massive success propelled by the No. 1 hit "Jesse's Girl." 1982's My Success Hasn't Spoiled Yet fared similarly, landing at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and spawning several more hit singles. A veteran showman with four decades of touring under his belt, Springfield returns to the road once again for a string of highly anticipated tour dates.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"Loved the more intimate setting of just Rick, loved the stories mixed in with the songs."
"Rick sounds great! He tells the stories behind the songs. So fun!"
"Not only was his music incredible, but his stories and humor made the evening a blast for our group of six!"
Don’t miss 38 Special. Rick Springfield was on my list of want to see. Now it is off and I have done it. Would go to 38 Special again.
This is my 4th time to see him in less than a year. Bought another guitar and met him after the show. He puts everything he has out on that stage and it shows. Amazing performance, he has a broke wrist and still played, amazing guitar player and very underrated. Highly recommend, seeing him live and if you don’t buy a guitar at the show. Do the meet and greet, love’s his fans and it shows.
Rick is 74 and his voice shows it. He’s still get great energy but the voice was showing its age. We had fun reliving our youth. .38 Special was excellent and didn’t sound that different from the 1980s
Rick put on an awesome show! He played over 90 minutes without a break and he’s 74!!! He played with two broken wrists as well!! SUPER energetic!! Definitely get a ticket to see Rick Springfield!!
We had a great time at Rick Springfield and 38 special! Rick played an awesome show and we had an awesome night!
Rick Springfield put on an awesome concert! With two broken wrist he still gave the Best Performance!!
What an awesome performance! Rick Springfield is so engaging and fun! He rocked it out from start to finish and left us screaming with joy! Loved it so much!!
Rick Springfield was a good entertainer but he played a lot of new music that no one knew. Didn’t enjoy him as much as 38 special. I will say being that I work on Mondays. I won’t be going to any more concerts that end 10:30 anymore on Sundays.
Rick still rocks. It was a great show. He interacted with the audience a lot the band was on!
Rick Springfield was on my wife's Bucket List. This 74yo didn't disappoint! Moving around like a 20yo and engaging the crowd. Very happy with the concert.
Rick Springfield brought the house down! It was a high energy, very interactive concert. It was an absolutely fabulous evening, including opening with 38 Special. I took a friend who had never seen Rick in concert and now she is a very excited follower.
We were familiar with their music , but didn’t consider ourselves big fans. Thoroughly enjoyed this concert. They both sounded great and had lots of chemistry and very entertaining. I consider myself a fan now.
Rick and Richard put on an awesome show. We would gladly go these two again.
Rick and Richard had a great rapport, making it more enjoyable for the audience. They showed old pictures and music videos, which made the evening feel more intimate. Musically, Richard Marx 100% showed up for the entertainment. Unfortunately, Rick Springfield spent a little too much time patting himself on the back for acting gigs, past and present, instead of giving a top-notch vocal performance. His voice was just not strong, plain and simple. And when he sang one of Marx' songs, he was truly off key, voice cracking. He also had some type of injury or disease of both wrists, rendering him unable to perform about 75% of his own music. Instead, we had a guest guitarist. Although this guest performer was good, I intended and paid to see and hear an acoustic night with Rick and RIchard and did not get what I paid for. Both performers tried hard to deliver but I was slightly disappointed.
Small intimate setting in casino so we only got acoustic songs. Richard Marx was with Springfield and was much more entertaining !
I'll start off with the good part. Richard Marx is still FANTASTIC! He hit all the high notes he is known for. It was incredibly humorous. The two Rick's really played off each other very well. Had the audience laughing multiple times throughout the concert. Very intimate setting with just them and their guitars which I LOVE. Now, the not so good part...Rick Springfield sadly was having wrist issues and wasn't able to play his guitar so they had a very talented musician playing for him. I was looking very forward to his guitar playing as I know he is a GREAT player. To top it off, Springfield's voice just wasn't near as good as Marx' was. In fact, I'd have to say his voice just wasn't quite there anymore. Finally, I'll say that for an acoustic only type concert, it is incredibly important for the "screaming women"fans to chill out! We all had a very difficult time hearing ANYTHING they were saying or singing because of some ridiculous 50's aged women who were acting like 12 year olds. They screamed out inappropriate comments the ENTIRE concert. It was so bad that a lot of people in our area started to leave as those two were out of control with their behavior. I was a little perplexed as to why the usher's didn't do anything about it. It was quite obvious and you could even tell that Rick and Richard were getting a little tired of it too. If you're looking for a Rick Springfield concert that you would have expected back in the 80's - please do not go to this - you will be highly disappointed.
The set up for this show with two artists was amazing. Really enjoyed the acoustic version of their music and would definitely go again. The venue was nice and everyone in attendance was cordial and respectful. It was definitely a great time!
The best show I’ve seen in a while! You really get the artists best music as well as see their personalities shine thru. The audience participation was really great!
This was a great concert. I love the way they played each other's music and complimented each other so well. You could tell they were having such a great time and the always makes for a great concert!
I have seen Rick many times. He never disappoints. He is very aware of and interacting with his audience. For this show I brought someone along who'd never seen him before and she was surprised by what an amazing guitar player he is. She also said she really enjoyed some of his newer songs. The show was shorter than I would have liked, but my Springfield Spotify Playlist is 8 hours long so I wasn't going to hear enough. He sat down at one point with the keyboard and played 'My Father's Chair'. It's a heartfelt song, and he sang the last verse a capella. He still has the vocal chops. I look forward to seeing him again.
