QUEENSRYCHE IN CONCERT:

For more than three decades, progressive metal veterans Queensryche have been pushing the genre’s boundaries with their ambitious sound and electrifying performances on tour. At their staggering live shows the band takes the stage in all black, delivering powerful rock anthems like “Silent Lucidity” and “Jet City Woman” beneath a giant banner bearing their signature peregrine falcon-likeTri-Ryche logo. Former Crimson Glory singer Todd La Torre joined Queensryche in 2012 and the band hasn’t missed a beat since, thrilling fans with extensive touring tirelessly and a return to the studio in 2015. Whether they’re rocking out to early favorites or playing cuts from their self-titled 2013 album, Queensryche always treats ticket buyers to an unforgettable concert experience full of potent tunes, virtuosic musicianship, and classic metal showmanship.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Queensryche formed in Bellevue, WA in 1982 from the ashes of local band The Mob. They received an early break when UK rock mag Kerrang! got wind of their demos and wrote a glowing review. The growing buzz in both the UK and the US led to impressive sales for their 1983 debut EP, and the following year the band released their debut album The Warning to a spot on the Billboard 200. Following a tour with Kiss the band released their 1986 sophomore album Rage for Order, a gold-certified outing that showcased a more polished rock sound. The band reached the pinnacle of their success in 1990 with the album Empire, which peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and spawned the Top 10 rock hits “Silent Lucidity” and “Jet City Woman”. Since then Queensryche has weathered numerous lineup changes while continuing to release records and tour with metal mainstays like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. In 2012 former Crimson Glory singer Todd La Torre joined Queensryche, and he continues to helm the band as they bring their distinctive brand of metal-infused power balladry to fans around the world on tour.

    Amazing concert

by Marillionaire on 5/14/24Culture Room - Ft Lauderdale

Had been a while since I had caught Queensryche in concert (Hear in the Now Frontier tour) and never got to see Armored Saint (a favorite from the 80s) live, so jumped at the chance to go see both when the tour was announced. Getting the tickets is very easy but wish there was a way to get a physical copy; sadly, something the digital age has done away with. Armored saint came in with all guns blazing and played a blistering set of about 45 minutes. Great musicianship, stage presence, crowd engagement and the unmistakable vocals of John Bush (truly an underrated singer) still belting it out at 60 years of age. They played to a crowd that was at 2/3 capacity. By the time Queensryche took the stage, the venue was completely packed and, right then and there, found out how it would feel to be in a can of sardines. Todd La Torre has one set of pipes and it's a true worthy successor to Geoff Tate; handled all the songs from the EP and debut with aplomb. Rest of the band was on point, as well. La Torre kept the adoring crowd engaged for the duration, and made the whole night feel like a communal experience. Only two disappointments: - Venue was small. About 400-500 capacity, though I reckon there were closer to 700 people in attendance. Would love to see Queensryche play in 2000-5000 capacity venues/theaters. But appreciate the fact the band is still releasing great music and touring. - Short concert. QR played a little more than 75 minutes. But considering how demanding, vocally, those two releases are, it's understandable. All in all, a great live event. It was the experience of a lifetime to catch these two legendary albums played whole. Catching Armored saint live for the first time was the cherry on top.

    A Night Of Classic Metal

by Music Man Dan on 5/14/24Culture Room - Ft Lauderdale

Although Tod was fighting a cold and a scratchy throat he powered through all 4 songs from the debut Queensryche EP plus the entire Warning album! The rest of the band was as tight as ever but the biggest surprise of the night was Armored Saint! OMG they were absolutely Stellar! Jon Bush sounded just like he did back in the 80's. A few high points were: Tribal Dance, March Of The Saint and Can U Deliver (especially when Jon came up to the balcony and high 5'd everyone! All in all it was a fantastic show and a great night of Classic Metal (well worth the 2 hour drive!)

    Great Concert BUT.....

by RickC on 5/14/24Culture Room - Ft Lauderdale

I would guess that most of the people in the audience has heard of Queensryche for many years and used to their songs from the 90's from the age of the people there. While this is a very talented group and I enjoyed the concert a lot, I was hoping to hear at least a couple of the popular songs from the initial era that were and are so popular. Songs like Silent Lucidity and Empire that got the band off to a great launch, for instance. While Geoff Downs is no longer there and there might be a conflict in using those songs legally, I was hoping to hear them anyway, even a medley on the encore would have been something. I recommend seeing them but don't expect to hear any of the songs that were so popular. Not sure I would go see them again. Sad.

Queensrÿche! Lead singers voice; off the charts

by Maryann on 5/14/24Culture Room - Ft Lauderdale

This venue was actually really nice. But if you can't stand for a long period of time you may want to rethink this venue since there is no seating. The drinks were reasonable and the band of course, Queensryche, was beyond reproach!

    Never a disappointment

by Frank on 5/14/24Culture Room - Ft Lauderdale

My third time seeing them going all the way to Operation Mindcrime tour. Sound great and never let you down. Hearing the EP and Warnjng in their entirety was awesome. If you haven’t seen them, what are you waiting for!!!!

    Awesome as expected

by morgoth7 on 5/14/24The Fillmore Charlotte - Charlotte

Was not going to make the drive (2.5 hrs) but when I saw they were going to play the EP and The Warning in their entirety, the trek was imperative. And they did not disappoint. Todd La Torre can belt it out, maybe even better than Geoff in his prime. Rest of the band was pretty tight, too. Great fun. And the venue, The Fillmore Charlotte, was not bad at all.

    Came with an open mind

by Pastor Dad on 5/10/24The Masquerade - Heaven - Atlanta

I have loved Queensryche since their EP of the early 80s and have worn out both cassette and CD copies of their albums. Geoff Tate, as well as other founding members, forged the sound that we have all loved big shoes to be filled. Queensryche 2024 didn't disappoint. They still sound like Queensryche. Lots of songs from their newer albums. A great show! "The Lady Wore Black"was a total trip down memory lane. Thanks, guys!!

    Back 2the Beginning...

by da Craviotto Kid on 5/10/24The Masquerade - Heaven - Atlanta

It was an Outstanding performance by Queensrÿche! They're know as a musician's band and they didn't disappoint. Blasting thru their ep & first album releases in chronological order. Despite it being near the end of the tour the guys gave 100% and it showed as the crowd was interactive with the band. I met new fans as well as the oldskool ones (like me!). I strongly recommend seeing them perform, especially on this Historic tour! "RYCHE ON! "

JUST OK WITHOUT THE ORIGINAL SINGERS

by El Jefe on 5/10/24The Masquerade - Heaven - Atlanta

Watching them setup the teleprompter before Armored Saint took the stage made me think John Bush may be using the singer's crutch or trying new/old material, but as it turned out the understudy got the call. I was very disappointed John wouldn't be singing. Hope he gets better. The Dangerous Toys singer did ok. The missed words and missed notes weren't too noticeable. The band is and always will be super tight. The venue had great sound. It really picks up the details within guitar solos and singing nuances. Those nuances were quite evident with Queensryche. They cranked up the sound noticeably and I lasted only a few songs. Nevertheless it was an entertaining show on both counts. Great venue to see a show.
