Primus Concert Schedule

American Rock band Primus first came together in the mid-1980s, bringing fans a distinct style of Alternative Rock that wholly distinguishes them from their contemporaries. Primus' tour dates -- which include their 2017 Ambushing The Storm Tour, 2014 Primus & The Chocolate Factory Tour, and 2014 Spring Tour -- have taken the group across the globe. Their tour stops are mostly centered in the Americas but often include legs in Europe and Oceania as well. During their live shows, Primus delivers their trademark brand of rock, metal, and funk elements, laced with ridiculous lyrics sung by bassist Les Claypool (along with his legendary slap bass stylings). Their musicianship is combined with wild costumes and a sense of theater that get audiences moving and laughing in equal measure. Primus' superb musicianship and stage presence haven't gone unnoticed. Their early 1990s work, Sailing The Seas Of Cheese and Pork Soda, both went platinum. In addition, Their 1996 release, Wynona's Big Brown Beaver, and their 2013 re-release of Sailing The Seas Of Cheese both earned them Grammy nominations: Best Hard Rock Performance and Best Surround Sound Album, respectively.

Primus Background

In San Francisco, in 1984, founding member and bassist Les Claypool linked up with guitarist Todd Huth and drummer Jay Lane to form the original Primus. The lineup has gone through several changes over the years, featuring other greats like Peter Libby, Robbie Bean, Tim Wright and even temporary touring members like Buckethead and Danny Carey. Throughout every iteration, though, Primus has always had a knack for putting on stellar shows and concocting unmistakably quirky music. Primus' debut album, Frizzle Fry, garnered them some success with smaller hits like the eponymous "Frizzle Fry," "Pudding Time" and "Mr. Knowitall." They enjoyed even greater acclaim with their 1991 release, Sailing The Seas Of Cheese, which included classic singles like "Jerry Was A Race Car Driver" and "Tommy The Cat." Since their inception, Primus has released more than seven studio albums, with numerous singles gaining spots on the U.S. Alternative charts. Perhaps most enduring is Primus' legacy. The trio has always featured powerhouse musicians and eccentric vocals. Claypool's work on bass, however, redefined the role of the instrument within a rock context and provided a blueprint for the inclusion of tricky (but funky) bass licks in future works by other bands like Incubus, Korn and Limp Bizkit.

Perfect size venue and amazing musicians

by Lunchsky on 6/23/22San Jose Civic - San Jose

I'll be scoping out other shows at the San Jose Civic. I love the location and size of the venue. The Black Angels were exciting to watch. I love the Primus Bay Area crowd. Primus was fantastic.

    Primus Farewell to Kings

by Petercat on 6/23/22San Jose Civic - San Jose

Very fun enjoyable show. A few more beer and food options would be nice. Also the vocals weren’t audible enough. Music sounded great. Not sure if that’s the band sound man’s fault or the venue. The extra $18+ per ticket seems rude.

Primus and venue excellent, floor "security" inept

by Audience Member at Jun 19, 2022 Primus show on 6/22/22San Jose Civic - San Jose

The performance by Primus was world-class. The venue is terrific, especially the food and beverage staff. The security at the door are excellent as well. I would rate all of these 5 stars. However, the "security" in the performance hall have a habit of flashing blinding light directly into the audience's eyes, including for the side of stage which, one, distracts from the performance and, two, makes it unavoidable that it will be seen by audience members since they will all be looking towards the stage. Blinding the audience with bright lights can be a safety hazard and a health hazard for those with eye conditions. Please develop performance hall security protocols and procedures that are in accordance with health and safety standards. In the venue fails to do so, then a next may be to examine what federal, state and/or county regulations exist regards the use of bright lights in concert hall during performance and how and if these regulations are enforced.

    Primus

by Obviously_brain on 6/22/22San Jose Civic - San Jose

My only gripe was that the details to the VIP package were extremely vague throughout the whole process. I was under the impression that the VIP package included guaranteed seats in the first 15 rows , instead it was early access and some cool swag. Had I known, idve paid for GA . Primus played an awesome show however

    Awesome show!

by Rudrumline on 6/22/22San Jose Civic - San Jose

Can you ask for anything more than Primus playing Rush? I’m not sure there are many other bands in the world that could do justice to Rush playing Farewell of Kings and Primus is definitely one of them. Hearing Primus songs as well is icing on the cake! Second time I saw a show on this tour and it was worth every penny!

The show was very good, and the venue was great. I loved the ample parking —so nice to have a concert without long lines getting in and out of the parking lot.

Played the classic Primus tunes, then Farewell to Kings all the way thru, finished with a couple of Primus classics. Great show and they nailed the Rush album. A classy tribute. Amazing musicians.

Primus plays Rush should be the Title

by Mike on 6/21/22Grand Sierra Resort and Casino - Reno

Primus was super tight. They still have what it takes to be a national act. The opening act was good also but I don’t know the name they did not even have a backdrop. It was not very professional. There was a stage technician running around the stage changing cords during the performance. Primus played too many Rush songs. I didn’t go to Primus to hear Rush. At least six or more Rush songs . I don’t think it was a great deal either. Around 600.00 for 4 people??

Great Sound. Great Band. Mediocre Show.

by Scotty on 6/21/22Grand Sierra Resort and Casino - Reno

The venue was not set up for this kinda music. People were stuck dancing in front of their seats. The mosh pit was non-existent. Primus can play a monster of a great show. But this wasn’t one of them.

    Primus

by SW on 6/21/22Grand Sierra Resort and Casino - Reno

The concert, Primus was of course amazing. The venue was great. Especially acoustically. My issue is with ticket master. I bought VIP tickets and once at the venue was told I didn’t have VIP tickets. I had VIP Q&A tickets which the event started at 4pm. I never received any sort of notification about that so unfortunately we missed it. Not purchasing tickets from Ticketmaster again. Several other Primus fans also had this issue.

Best Primus Show I’ve ever seen!

by Hennisee on 6/20/22SACRAMENTO MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM - Sacramento

This was by far the best Primus show I’ve ever seen them play. Every song was executed with precision. They played many deep tracks and just enough of the hits to keep everyone on board. That being said their playing of “A Farewell to Kings” was impeccable! Can’t wait to see them again!
