About

Melanie Martinez on Tour

Melanie Martinez's first major performance was no small gig. As a teenager, she sang, played guitar and tapped a tambourine with her feet to a crowd of over 12 million on national television, where she impressed three of four judges on NBC's The Voice. Since that momentous day in 2012, the singer-songwriter with the two-toned hair has quickly grown into a full-fledged pop star with a quirky alter ego (Cry Baby) to boot. Onstage, Martinez plays with a colorful, childlike whimsy with striking visuals to match. She first took her show on the road in 2014 for the Dollhouse tour, followed by the Cry Baby world tour to support her 2015 debut album. In between, she landed support slots alongside Lindsey Stirling and Adam Lambert. In 2019, to coincide with her sophomore album and first feature film, K-12, Martinez announced her next world tour.

Melanie Martinez in Concert

Melanie Martinez's surreal alt-pop draws from an array of influences, from The Beatles to 2Pac to Britney Spears, the latter who would help bring the young singer-songwriter to TV screens across the U.S. The Queens-born, Long Island–raised Martinez started writing poetry in kindergarten and taught herself how to play guitar by the time she reached high school. In 2012, during her junior year, she landed a televised audition on NBC's The Voice, where she sang Spears' "Toxic." The performance earned her a spot on Adam Levine's team. She made it to the top six before being eliminated. Keeping up the momentum of her newfound fame, Martinez started working on original music. In 2014, she released her debut single "Dollhouse." Soon after, she signed to Atlantic Records and unveiled her debut EP, also called Dollhouse. The following year, she began teasing music from her debut album, including lead single "Pity Party," a dark, dance-y spin on Lesley Gore's classic 1963 track "It's My Party." In August 2015, she released Cry Baby — a reference to her being called "cry baby" as a kid. The album debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart. To support the album, Martinez took on the role of filmmaker, directing some of her own music videos. She'd continue pursuing those ambitions for her second album, 2019's K-12, which is accompanied by its own fanciful full-length feature film, written and directed by Martinez herself.

    amazing

The food was good and not overpriced, the concert itself was super well put together and a great experience

    Horrible seats

by zaaki on 5/13/24Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

MELANIE WAS AMAZING! I have no complaints about her. But I do have a bone to pick with the arena. There were no screens besides the one that was facing the crowd on the floor. None of us on the sides could see any of the effects or Melanie herself unless she was on the stage. When your traveling from another country the least we would expect is to see the artist on big screens. It was very disappointing.

Honestly not bad but took forever

by LX on 5/13/24Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

Honestly the concert itself was amazing, but man it took forever to get started - doors opened at 7 with 2 opening acts yet the second act ended around 8:15 and Melanie didn’t start till 9? That seems utterly insane to me. Didn’t help either the second act wasn’t amazing and it was hard to stay hype because of it. Thankfully it gave more time to get in line for merch but definitely was not expecting the concert to start at 9 and end at 11.

    Floor seats suck

by Bunnie on 5/13/24Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

For those having to be there for the first time- I would suggest getting seats on the side. It was hard for short people to see the stage from the floor being behind a lot of people. If the floor was slanted it would’ve been better. Space was nice, having seats were nice but the view was terrible.

    Love Melanie but…

by Emma on 5/13/24Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

Melanie’s concert was amazing and Melanie definitely knows how to put on a show. Never thought I’d see a performer use more fire than KISS but it was incredible. The only bad thing is that the fans need to calm down. There were a couple women fighting in the section I was seated in although I learned later one of them basically attacked the other one for no reason. They almost rolled into the row in front of them before security came and pulled them apart. It kind of took a while for my friends and I to calm down and enjoy the show after that. The last time I went to a Melanie concert the same stuff happened and this fanbase can be so toxic. People need to calm down at Melanie concerts. We’re all there for the same reason so just calm down and enjoy the music.

    Absolutely LOVED Melanie Martinez

by rlstattoo on 5/13/24Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

This was Melanie's first stop on her Trilogy Tour, and she did not disappoint! She did songs from all of her albums and the show was visually stunning, telling a story with great digital and physical sets. The dancers were incredible, and it was a great crowd. She sounded great and the video screens made it easier to see when tall people occasionally blocked our view of the stage. My only do better would be the merchandise sales. I don't know if this is on MM's team or the venue (Climate Pledge) but the lines were RIDICULOUSLY long for the entire pre- and post-show, even during the opening acts. There needs to be a better system that allows people to buy merchandise without missing the shows they are paying to see. Disappointing.

    It was an amazing concert!

by Anicka on 5/13/24Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

From the moment she got on the stage, it was non stop... everyone screaming and all dressed up to the theme, the ambience was phenomenal!! Great songs, never a break, the dancers were just super! what an experience... drove from Alberta to Seattle to see her for my daughter and it was sooo worth it!! The only thing I am disappointed in is that I couldn't get merchandise because the lines were so long.

    She is amazingly talented

by Tara on 5/13/24Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

Melanie did an amazing job! However, people sitting near the sides, could not see her when she was deep inside the stage. I wish the stage was more visible from the sides.

    Melanie Martinez was great

by Bradd on 5/13/24Climate Pledge Arena - Seattle

The show was amazing. We only knew songs off of “Crybaby” but she played those first out of the three albums. The stage show was creepy and intense and the music was awesome. I bought the tickets for my wife as a present but now I’m actually a fan too after seeing her live. The food and drinks at Climate Pledge Arena were OUTRAGEOUSLY EXPENSIVE. Also, their no bar policy is ridiculous. Do they not have drinking water fountains there? Great performance. Expensive but cool venue experience.

    BEST CONCERT EVER

by Jordy (Mel’s version) on 5/13/24

It was the best concert ever they sold so many fun merch and came home with a lot of confetti. I was very sad Melanie left the stage so fast if she waited a bit I would get an autograph from my favorite singer but it’s ok the workers there collected the heart ballon’s and I asked if I can have one and they gave me one they were so kind.

    not good

    by io on 5/2/24

i had to wait 5 hours before the show and she only performed one song. the people were so loud that I couldn't even hear her. and she didn't bother to tell them to quiet down
