Marquette Golden Eagles Women’s Basketball History
The Marquette University Golden Eagles women’s basketball team formed in 1975. After starting as an independent program, Marquette joined the North Star Conference in 1986 and belonged to the Midwestern Collegiate Conference, Great Midwest Conference and Conference USA before becoming a member of the Big East in 2005. Across conferences, the Golden Eagles have claimed two tournament championships, including one Big East victory in 2017, and five regular season titles, with back-to-back Big East wins in 2018 and 2019. Marquette has made 14 appearances in the NCAA Women’s March Madness tournament and advanced to the Second Round on six occasions. Megan Duffy has served as the Golden Eagles head coach since 2019.

Marquette Golden Eagles at Al McGuire Center
The Marquette Golden Eagles women’s basketball team competes at the Al McGuire Center. Opened in 2004 as a replacement for the Marquette Gymnasium, the 3,700-seat venue is located on campus in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Marquette women’s volleyball team also plays on the court. Al McGuire Center is named after the late Marquette men’s basketball coach, who led the team to their sole NCAA Championship victory in 1977.
