Awesome show at a great intimate club. Get the bottle service if you’re with a group.
I have been waiting for about 2 years to hear James Hunter! Saw James perform at the Monterey Jazz Festival, excellent performance! Thanks for coming to LA, you have a lot of fans here!!! Can’t wait for your return!!!
It was a very nice experience to be so close to James Hunter and his Band! The music and ambience was super nice and unique. It had a kind of „oldschool“ feeling to it, that is rare to get these days!
James clearly loves his job. He is a fantastic entertainer. If you chance to see him, do it!
I have 4 of Hunter's CDs, so I thought I knew what I was in for, and was really looking forward to his live performance. Being a weeknight, we were told that the performance started at 7. Turns out that's when the doors opened. Performance did not actually start until about 8:00, Peacock Room is SRO, so this was a lot of standing around. During this time, Hunter circulated through the audience some. So at 8:00 they started. The instrument volume was way up, so we moved from the center of the room to the rear, but the sound level was still painful. The sound board man did not seem to know what he was doing and the audience was punished with a lot of very loud feedback. Hunter's vocals seemed to be off as well. Sort of off key. Maybe the instrument volume was high to cover this up. We left after the second song, so we don't know whether Hunter and his sound man got their act together or not. I just knew I was not going to further damage my hearing to find out. This was extremely disappointing.
This was our third time seeing James Hunter, the first time that he has come to the wonderful new venue The Sinclair. As always, he was full of soul and a joyfulness in playing his music- especially cuts from his latest CD. This was also our third time seeing opener Jesse Dee- a local soul and R and B star on the rise.
New fan of this group and truly enjoyed the smaller venue of the Sinclair and the opening act too.
Very funky and polished performance; Jesse Dee is on my list to see again as well. Hunters' band was really tight and he gave them opportunities to show off their talent. Couldn't stop dancing!!!
Absolutely amazing! What a great voice. The band was so much fun to watch - I'd recommend it to anyone! And the Sinclair was a cool place to go.
