Gregory Porter on Tour
With his rich baritone voice and his mastery of the deepest traditions of soul, jazz and gospel, Gregory Porter has established himself as one of America's most versatile and acclaimed vocalists. His artistry and sensitivity is plain to the ear whether he's putting his stamp on beloved standards by heroes like Nat "King" Cole or demonstrating his own writing talents with original songs strong enough to stand with the many classics in his repertoire.
Produced by Troy Miller (Jamie Cullum, Laura Mvula), All Rise is Porter's sixth studio album and fourth for the iconic Blue Note label. Like his 2013 breakthrough Liquid Spirit ā the Grammy Award winner for Best Jazz Vocal Album ā Porter's latest is a confident display of his many gifts, starting with his ability to convey feelings of both exaltation and sadness with uncommon directness and warmth.
Selling out venues to capacity, like Warner Theatre (Washington, D.C.), as engaging and charismatic onstage as he is on his recordings, Porter performs in support of All Rise throughout 2020 in venues across the U.S. and Europe.

Though Gregory Porter has been widely heralded as one of the premier male vocalists in contemporary jazz, his roots in soul and gospel are just as deep. Raised in Bakersfield, California, he got his start in music singing in the church where his mother was a minister. After a promising athletic career was cut short by an injury, he came to New York in 2004 and began building his profile through appearances and residencies at clubs in Brooklyn and Harlem. Porter's albums for the MotĆ©ma label ā Water (2010) and Be Good (2012) ā introduced listeners to a remarkable talent whose baritone voice maintained his warmth and richness regardless of the style and setting. His first album for Blue Note, Liquid Spirit (2013), marked a wider breakthrough on both sides of the Atlantic, winning Porter his first Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album and reaching the Top 10 on the UK charts. In 2017, Porter released Nat King Cole & Me (2017), a collection of songs recorded and inspired by his lifelong idol. His sixth studio album, All Rise, is released in the spring of 2020, with Porter performing new dates in the U.S. and Europe.
The smooth baritone voice and story telling in a song, that is Gregory Porter, was excellent. Took a two and half hour road trip from Jersey to DC to see him and would gladly do it again. Although I wish he was in Philly or AC, lol!
Gregory Porter stands in the front of the line of an artist who has perfected his craft. The precision & clarity of his baritone voice allows you to live in the moment and mentally still enjoy the experience days later. The Porter musicians are undoubtedly the best also. Mr. Porter & band leaves you wanting more & singing his songs even more for days. I am so looking forward to Mr. Porter returning my town or one near me. What a Great Performance !! šš¾šš¾
I was expecting more than I got from Gregory Porter this evening. The show got started late, maybe because a good portion of the crowd was late getting there, but I've seen him perform before, and although the audience seemed satisfied, I was not particularly impressed with the performance. It was good, but I expected great!
If Jazz is a genre of music you can appreciate you donāt want to miss Gregory Porter. His voice and musicians were very entertaining and talented. The way the vocals and notes danced around the stage was the best Jazz experience Iāve ever had! Definitely one of the GREATS! Thank you for a Phenomenal Show Gregoryā£ļø
My husband and I were there celebrating his birthday. We really enjoyed our experience from the MGM staff and their warm hospitality, our seating was perfect and most importantly the performance from Gregory Porter ( the reason we were there) and his band. Those musicians were amazing. We will most definitely come and enjoy him again, when he comes back. His songs sound like the original tracks and we were really impressed. Hands of applause to Mr. Porter!!!!!

Gregory Porter is amazing. His voice is captivating. I took my wife to go see him and sheās not a big jazz fan. After this show sheās been listening to all his songs. This man deserves more appraise than he receives. Please go see him live. You will not be disappointed.

Gregory Porter is truly an outstanding performer. His in-person performance matches his recordings, and that makes the in-person visit well worth any effort to get there. I highly recommend anyone who loves this man, to look for opportunities to see him perform in person.

Gregory Porterās voice is wonderful . Sound mixer drowned it out with too much of the rest of the band .
