The K-pop revolution has taken over.
K-pop girl group Dreamcatcher are known for their unique style that blends rock music with slick choreography and horror-themed visuals. Formed as MINX in 2015, the seven-member South Korean troupe has gained a global following for their rock style, a rarity in the mainstream Korean music scene.
In a music scene dominated by R&B, rap and hip hop, Dreamcatcher's choice to focus on rock puts them on a less-traveled road. Even within K-pop, rock is mainly relegated to side experiments, with metal considered an underground genre.
With K-pop being such a massively saturated market, the group needed something that set them apart. Their sound, horror-inspired storyline concept about girls reborn as nightmares and music videos are part of a larger story that continues to develop with each new release, leaving fans begging for more.
That unique spark caught the attention of many curious people who wanted to see what this K-pop/rock mash-up was all about.
Combine that with their aggressive choreography and bold sound, and you'll understand why their fanbase is so dedicated. The group even gave their loyal followers a memorable name: InSomnia. It comes from the Latin "in somnia," which means "in dreams" -- a nod to the group's association with nightmares.
Since their debut, the girl group with members JiU, Siyeon, Handong, Dami, Yoohyeon, Gahyeon, and SuA has attracted more and more curious onlookers to their disruptive sound. In 2022, the group released their studio album Apocalypse: Save Us and immediately saw the album soar to No. 1 on iTunes Top Albums charts in 20 regions across the globe, including the United States.
While the group has gone on to include hip-hop, EDM and other music genres in their music, the heart of their sound will always be rock. They're sure to entertain people from all corners of life.

i had a really good time and they noticed me!! đđ
This was Day 2 of the Dreamcatcher Apocalypse concert in LA, July 17th. I had went to the concert on the previous day, but today I had seats in the mezzanine section. That just means that I got in line at 5 pm, and was able to get inside at 6:30 pm without a problem. However, the issue was they were still letting people in while the concert started. Since I was in the 1st row of mezzanine, at times people would block my view when they entered to find their seats. That part was frustrating, and they need to seriously improve getting people in at a timely manner. This was also the day the concert was live-streamed, so we were on our best behavior. Sitting in the mezzanine is a different experience from the GA pit. What was interesting is that I saw a lot of people from other Kpop fandoms attending Deukae concerts, so it was nice that there are other multis who enjoy Deukaeâs music. There was also someone in the pit who assembled a really tall version of the official lightstick (mongmongie). Thatâs the telltale sign that youâre at a Deukae concert, that and people wearing black robes (like me). Once the concert started, I felt very lucky to enjoy the setlist for a second time, this time from a high vantage point. That way you can take in the whole choreography and see the crowd from a distance. It is a more chill vibe, so if you prefer a more high-tension vibe, I think you would prefer being in the GA pit. This era was special because Dreamcatcher also highlighted their solo songs, which they worked hard on to prepare for this album. Iâm always proud to see their artistic growth, and to see their own unique style of music. JiU writing a sweet song about her precious dog Cherry is something I deeply relate to as a dog lover. SuA excels in the girl crush concept with hot choreography. I was surprised by Siyeonâs nostalgic âEntrancing,â that would fit well on a historic drama, but Siyeon pulls it off flawlessly. Handong has become so much more confident and I find her song âWinterâ to be steady, heartfelt and comforting. Yoohyeon really wants to steal our hearts with the flirty ballad âFor.â Damiâs âBeauty Fullâ makes me nostalgic for alt-rock songs of the past (looking at you âSk8er Boiâ) and itâs so much fun. Finally, Gahyeonâs âPlayground,â heheheh I still think itâs cute, youthful and bright. Once Deukae finished the âNo Dotâ challenges, the younger members had to apologize to their parents since they were probably watching the livestream lol. The fan chants for âDĂ©jĂ vuâ were even louder today, and I was very proud. Thatâs for the people watching at home! The one difference with todayâs setlist was we got âSAHARAâ as an extra encore song, and it even included the scarves for the performance. I still remember how much I laughed when I saw their self-made MV for âSAHARA.â Itâs not every group that I will try to attend all concert dates in the closest city to me, but I make the exception for Dreamcatcher. This was the fastest weekend of my life. Until next time, Iâll be dreaming of Dreamcatcher.
Ever since I because a fan of Deukae during 2020 (pandemic Somnia here) I had always wanted to see them perform live. Their discography is unique to Kpop, they had just received their first win a couple months ago, and it felt like a victory lap for Deukae and their longtime fans. I felt so excited once I got the tickets, and could not believe that I would be seeing Dreamcatcher live for the first time. The venue itself (the Wiltern) was small, and we had to line up beforehand for general admission seating. However, I was able to make friends with other Insomnia in line, and we helped each other out and even stayed together for the whole evening. Once the theater doors opened, my suggestion is if you have to go to the bathroom, head to the 2nd floor. If you donât have to go to the bathroom or get merch, go straight to the GA pit and get the best spot you can. We were able to stand in the 2nd section, maybe 4-5 rows back from the edge, so the view was not terrible, though there were tall people in front. This is not too bad considering the time I lined up was around 3 pm. Once the concert started, it was surreal to hear âIntro: Save Usâ and âMAISONâ starting to blast. All of us kept screaming when Deukae appeared, and the whole evening was very loud and energetic. Maybe the backing track was louder in the pit, so definitely bring ear buds if you prefer them. I had watched several online Deukae concerts before, but nothing compares to the energy of hearing them live. If crowds are not your thing, there were seats on the upper-level mezzanine and loge areas, though they sold out quickly. Even if I couldnât see the whole stage at time, it was still great to be this close to JiU, SuA, Siyeon, Handong, Yoohyeon, Dami, and Gahyeon. Itâs clear to see that they love what they do and also have really great chemistry with each other. Iâm glad I got to enjoy âBlack or Whiteâ live! Never did I think I would like âBreak the Wallâ as much as I do after hearing it live, but really youâre just meant to headbang and experience that song in a concert. Be careful of the âNo Dotâ challenge because itâs not for the faint of heart. Plus, the highlight of the evening was finally hearing the masterpiece, the icon herself, âDeja Vuâ live. It was beautiful, amazing and I was pleasantly surprised some of us did do the fan chant. I also want to say that Dreamcatcher are very kind and caring of fans. At one point, an audience member fainted, and another concert-goer made an âXâ with their arms that Deukae noticed and informed the staff. The concert-goer was able to get the help they needed, and it felt like we were looking out for each other. For the encore, we heard âWake Upâ (yes!!!), âMay Dayâ (adore<3) and âNew Daysâ (a must!) to close out the evening. Iâm pretty sure this concert added 10 years to my lifespan, it was healing and cathartic. Maybe it was more fun than usual because I was able to make some friends, and weâll try to meet up the next time Deukae goes on tour. Thank you Dreamcatcher for making this a night Iâll never forget.
Okay so I got insanely lucky when I went because the seat I picked apparently wasnât open and they moved me into the middle row and I could see EVERYTHING WELL (my phone couldnât thanks to the lights flashing me but idc) they all performed so well even when they were clearly exhausted. I canât wait for them to come back to NEWYORK.
This was my first Kpop concert ever and Iâm glad I got to experience it with Dreamcatcher! Itâs very rare for a group to come to Ohio so I was very surprised and immediately got tickets. I had so much fun and canât wait for them to come back!
It was an amazing night, they had so much energy from beginning to end. I love their whole discography. My sister that never heard any of their songs was vibing the whole time. She loved the interaction with the fans and the way they kept the engagement with the audience throughout the whole night. You honestly don't have to be a fan or a fan of kpop to enjoy their concerts.
The girls are amazing and talented. A great show organization. Coca cola roxy always gets it right in the organization and I always have an incredible experience. Thank you coca cola roxy and live nation
Amazing as usual! They were so great and my seat at the Taft theater was great! An amazing venue and an amazing show!!!!
I really had a great time at their concert, theyâre amazing performers and I absolutely loved how interactive they are with the crowd, I would most definitely attend another concert by them!
They are so good, so high energy. I'd pat to see them again!
