The event was originally sold as including Cyrus Chestnut. It was postponed. I was not aware that he would not be playing the rescheduled show. The group was adequate, but definitely the B-team.
The Howard Theater is a wonderful place that is important to the history of jazz. It is beautifully restored. The staff was exceptionally courteous and classy. The food was decent to very good. But above all, the performance of this group was just excellent. There is not a weak link within this group of superb musicians. Catch them if you can.
