The only reason it was such a great show was because of Davy Jones and his stage presence. I am not too much of a David Cassidy fan but it seemed like him and his 4-person band put their act together early that morning and rehearsed once at best. At several times of in the show he told one of the band members not to slow down. Isnt that something you go over when you rehearse? Also, and Im sure its not his fault, for the first 2 or 3 songs, David Cassidy's guitar didnt even work and he was throwing up his hands in anger. I really thought he was gonna walk off stage. Thats not being professional on his part and also poor electric setup on the stage crew's part. Arent they supposed to test those things first? And I really didnt care to hear about David Cassidy's time in jail either but hey, thats rock and roll.
Davy Jones completely made up for it. He has amazing stage presence and had the crowd on the edge of their seats with every song.
But here's where the show completely took a dive. I was one of the individuals who shelled out the extra cash for the meet and greet for The Monkees. When I heard they werent all going to be there, I assumed that Davy would definately be taking the time to meet the fans, kinda making up for the fact that the fellow Monkees would not be there too. The result of the oh so great meet and greet?? Him and David Cassidy sat on stools on stage for about 20-30 minutes, talked about random things, answered 7 or 8 questions and then called it a night.. Ummm I thought it was a meet and greet.. When did I meet or greet the artist? Never. Had I known it was gonna be such a disappointment, I would have saved my cash.
