We were very disappointed by this event.
First, at some point in the last couple of seasons, the ballpark decided to encircle the entire field with safety netting, even the outfield wall. I understand wanting to protect people behind the dugouts from dangerous foul balls, but it seems excessive when there's not even a chance to catch a home run ball when sitting in the outfield bleachers. I would go so far as to consider this netting an "obstructed view."
Second, we had a rain delay at the top of the 6th inning. After only about 30 minutes, the game was called and everyone was sent home. By the time we reached our car, the sun had come back out. But too late, the game was over. It felt like a hasty decision that robbed us of 4 innings of baseball on a holiday weekend because (I can only assume) the umpires wanted to go home early.
Based on this, I'll think twice before planning an evening out at Huntington Park to watch the Clippers. It's just not a great fan experience.
