    Architecture River Cruise

    by S. L. on 10/12/22Chicago Architecture Center - Chicago's First Lady - Chicago

We had some friends come in from out of town and wanted to do this cruise. It was great from the views to the person that gave the talk. She really enjoys what she does, she explained everything very good. I highly recommend tom do this cruise. We did the 5:30 cruise on Sunday night as the sun was setting and all the lights on the buildings started going on . We had a great time.

Best way to see Chicago architecture

by Daydee on 10/12/22Chicago Architecture Center - Chicago's First Lady - Chicago

Despite having a stellar view of the buildings along the Chicago River from our hotel, the view from the First Lady boat was the best. There were no obstructions of the full height of the buildings, and the guide gave us excellent information about important features and history of these amazing landmarks.

    Best tour I’ve ever had

by Gus O on 10/11/22Chicago Architecture Center - Chicago's First Lady - Chicago

I’ve done tons of tours all around the world from asia to europe to the states, this was quite possibly the best tour I’ve ever had. Our sherpa, Jim, was knowledgeable and funny adding plenty of personality to a tour of a beautifully historic city full of the some of the most amazing architecture in our history.

by Lana D on 10/11/22Chicago Architecture Center - Chicago's First Lady - Chicago

This was the best tour of Chicago. The guide was great - we learned about the architecture of Chicago buildings on the river. Great photo ops during sunset. So happy we did it. Time well spent.

by Jim on 10/11/22Chicago Architecture Center - Chicago's First Lady - Chicago

My wife told me this would make or break the trip- I’m happy to say, it made it. Our volunteer host was knowledgeable and fun and spent nearly 1.5 hours pointing out interesting facts and tid bits about the building. Fun time.

    Great commentary, comfy boat....

by Kathy on 10/11/22Chicago Architecture Center - Chicago's First Lady - Chicago

I grew up in Chicago, and recall doing this tour back in the 1960s. This time I returned with my 5 year old granddaughter and my two sons and their wives on a "nostalgia trip" Everything was managed beautifully, and I learned a great deal.

    Great for the whole family

by ChetLemon on 10/10/22Chicago Architecture Center - Chicago's First Lady - Chicago

Can't recommend this experience enough when visiting Chicago as a tourist. Heck, we included a Chicago native in our party and he loved it too. Joanie was the perfect tour guide, informative, fun and obviously passionate about her city. My twelve, ten and eight year old children were enthralled as well.

Chicago Architecture Foundation Center's river cruise

by Julie on 10/10/22Chicago Architecture Center - Chicago's First Lady - Chicago

I went on the architecture cruise tour with my family, and we all thought it was an amazing experience. Our guide, Steve, was incredibly knowledgeable and was an engaging speaker - he spoke pretty much non-stop for the entire 1.5 hours without notes, including names, dates, numbers, and lots and lots of architectural and historic anecdotes. He also made himself available to passengers as we disembarked, so I was able to ask him a few questions then. I felt that I learned a ton, and in the days following the tour, we were noticing architectural features and excitedly pointing out examples of what we learned! As for logistics - it was easy to buy tickets, the boat was clean and the seats were comfortable. We didn't check out the bathrooms or the bar because we didn't want to miss a minute of the tour. It was chilly when we went, so I was glad I had dressed warmly!

    Great experience

by Jim C, Boston on 10/8/22Chicago Architecture Center - Chicago's First Lady - Chicago

The cruise was fun but the gentleman doing the narration of the history and side stores of the construction of Chicago skyline was amazing. He was as entertaining as he was knowledgeable, we would definitely do this cruise again.

    Fantastic experience

by Eliza on 10/8/22Chicago Architecture Center - Chicago's First Lady - Chicago

The cruise was amazing. Chicago is so full of interesting buildings, and being shown them from the water was great fun. Our volunteer docent, Dan J, was informative and pleasant, the weather was spectacular, the drinks were generous and tasty, and the boat itself was clean and comfortable. Highly recommend.

Amazing! Best tour I've ever had

by Rafael on 10/6/22Chicago Architecture Center - Chicago's First Lady - Chicago

This tour is amazing. I'm not usually one to go on guided CT tours, but a dear friend - who's a big architecture fan and used to live in Chicago - recommended this one because they had the most knowledgeable guides. And the experience exceeded all my expectations. The views are surreal and the guide was not only knowledgeable but also very passionate about architecture and the city.
