Annie Oakley was a keen-eyed sharpshooting woman whose extraordinary skill with a gun was unusual for a woman in the late 1800s, and Annie Get Your Gun is a fun-packed dramatization of her story. The play begins when she first encounters fellow sharpshooter Frank Butler while he's touring with Buffalo Bill's Wild West show. Sparks soon begin to fly, and love is in the air between the two, but their relationship is complicated by professional rivalry. The show has lent more than its share of standards to the Great American Songbook, including such iconic compositions as "There's No Business Like Show Business," "Anything You Can Do" and "I Got the Sun in the Morning." Over the years, Annie has been brought to life by Mary Martin, Bernadette Peters, Suzi Quatro, Reba McEntire, Susan Lucci, Marilu Henner, and Patti Lupone, to name just a few.
