About

As a Swedish death metal band that mainly pens and performs songs about Viking history and lore, it makes absolute sense that their name is in the fictional language of Sindarin (created by J. R. R. Tolkien) and translates into “Mount Doom”—the volcano in Tolkien’s fantasy world of Middle Earth. It’s also fitting that Johan Hegg (vocals), Olavi Mikkonen (guitar), Johan Söderberg (guitar), Ted Lundström (bass) and Fredrik Andersson play über-loud hit songs like “Death In Fire,” “Thousand Years of Oppression,” “Without Fear,” “A Fury Divine” and “Risen From the Sea” with as much speed and vigor as wielded by the almighty hammer of Thor. Legions of death metal fans have been grabbing concert tickets since the early ‘90s to witness the fire and fury of Amon Amarth LIVE on stage, performing music that the band’s website describes as “a compelling fusion of buzzsaw riff work, melodic harmonies and soul-crushing rhythms.” Amon Amarth frequently play at metal festivals around the globe and tour with other top-notch death metal acts like Goatwhore, Enslaved and Skeletonwitch.

Over the course of their career, Amon Amarth have played at venues like Arizona Federal Theatre, and have brought The Fillmore (Philadelphia), The Fillmore (Detroit), The Fillmore (Minneapolis) to capacity.

    Killer Show!

by GreighWolf on 9/12/23Riverside Municipal Auditorium - Riverside

Mid size venue, Great sound! Amon Amarth Killed it, and their opener GateCreeper did a hell of a show! the venders being "cashless"for the event is unacceptable and will definitely effect attendance in the future as is life threatening in that you could not get water when systems malfunctioned.

    Band was good…

by Steph on 9/12/23Riverside Municipal Auditorium - Riverside

Amon Amarth was amazing. However the rest of the entire venue sucked. There was no clear indication about what time the show started or what time doors open so we were waiting outside for over an hour and a half in line. The floor was overcrowded. They did not have attendants checking tickets and putting people where they were supposed to be so we had to stand in the aisle all the way in the back, aside from being overcrowded, entirely too hot I left with my arm in a cast with a sprained wrist I needed to go to the ER the next day for x-rays to make sure it wasn’t broken. Overall.Amon Amarth was great, will not be back to the location ever again.

    New to the Band

    by Tyler S. on 8/25/23

This was my first time seeing this band and I was not disappointed. I’d heard of Amon Amarth but had never listened to them until last night. When I saw they were opening for Ghost, I decided not to listen to them until the concert, so I could be surprised. They were great. They’re very passionate about their music and I love their sound and energy. They put on an amazing show and I can’t wait to listen to the rest of their discography. Will definitely be going to see them again.

    Absolutely amazing.

    by Jen.L on 2/13/23

Amon Amarth killed it! They even sound better live! The atmosphere at the Sylvee was amazing. The only issue I had was I paid almost $600 for 2 to get The Great Heathen Army experience. There was a photo op with them but literally it was a minute maybe a minute and half. Had just enough time to take the photo and fist bump Johan H. Which I will admit was awesome. But I would have loved to at least say hi to the rest of the band.

    Absolutely Awesome Experience

    by Bull Murphy on 2/10/23

Went to the show in Charlotte in November. Saw the whole cast! Was so great to see all of them. My highlights was Obituary and Amon Amarth. Florida boy myself but had never got to see them until now. Amon Amarth killed it! Love the props! Loki walking around during Deceiver of the Gods was a sight! And at 48 years I took my first ride on the crowd. Would do it all over again. Great band to see if get the opportunity. Don’t miss it!

Amon Amarth is the best melodic death metal band for me, everything sounded way better live than in studio. I would watch them again and again if they return.

    Embrace of the endless ocean

by Chris Corpse on 12/21/22Kia Forum - Inglewood

Away from the fact that the bands were amazing, three negative issues I would like to mention: 1- The seats were very tight and there is not enough space to sit comfortably. 2- People smoking weed without regards to others. 3- Stage lights are so bright and it should not be directed towards the audience. Oden owns you all!!

    To Valhalla and back

by Spankthetank on 12/21/22Kia Forum - Inglewood

Amon Amarth brings entertainment in the metal realm to the next level. I brought a couple friends who aren’t really familiar with AA to see them live in concert and their minds were blown. The theatrics combined with the music is so fun to watch. Front man Johan makes sure the audience is engaged the entire time and the Viking theme, storytelling, and Norse vibe matches their melodic death metal sound perfectly. AA is One of the best metal bands I’ve watched live in my opinion.

    Unbelievable

by Metalhead on 12/20/22Kia Forum - Inglewood

This show was going ok and turning out to be an average concert nothing to brag about. Then Amon Amarth came out and put on the single best performance i have ever seen! The stage was amazing, the band and vocalist were extremely seasoned and great about getting the crowd involved, the theatrics and pyro technica were unreal, the blow up statues were off the chain, and the band played flawless music they were perfect. I will never miss another one of there shows in my city for as long as i live.

    Amazing Show

by Max Metal on 12/20/22Kia Forum - Inglewood

Best concert I've ever been to. this show was so amazing. the stage set-up, props, theatrics. fire explosions, smoke and sound system were all unbelievable. Amon Amarth plays and performs so professionally. their guitars are so tight and crisp. I love the dual guitar solos & riffs. The vocals are perfect and sound so awesome. I would highly recommend Amon Amarth to see in concert. As far as the venue.... The seats at the Kia Forum are awful. too small. Also they tried to shut down the restrooms 2 minutes after the last song. The parking is overpriced. I paid $60 for preferred, the parking spots are too narrow and too far away - I had to walk half way around the forum to get in. the drinks are too expensive too. it was $150 for 2 rounds. The Kia Forum sucks
