Horrible
by xxDisappointedxx on 2/18/13Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 1 out of 5I'm a huge fan of 70s soul music and was extremely disappointed. The show was poorly produced, the MC (Cuba Gooding Sr) never knew when the next act was coming on and had to improv the entire night. The sound mix was the worst I've ever heard. The performers did not sound good at all, sounded like the microphone levels were too high and thats when they worked. Of the four microphones on stage, only two were working at any given time. The issue wasn't that the microphones malfunctioned, it was that no one attempted to make any corrections. The microphones kept cutting in and out and started with the first act! The problem wasn't completely fixed until the second to last act performed. It appeared as if there was absolutely no rush to fix the microphones. Meanwhile the performers continued with their routines the best they could but more times than not it was the lead singer's microphone with the problems. I was very surprised that the performers continued and that speaks volumes of their professionalism. How could the Beacon Theatre not be prepared? I'm sure microphones malfunction all the time, why were there no back up microphones? The microphones that were eventually brought out malfunctioned as well. The Stylistics closed and were phenomenal. I know they had their own band, but I wonder if they had their own microphones and sound engineer as well.
