    50 Shades of laughter

by dusty69britches on 10/30/13Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

This musical was hysterical. The actors & actresses were outstanding. I laughed so hard and so long my face hurts. The minds that put this together were brilliant. Who would have ever thought to give Christian Grey's role to the person that played him. So opposite. It was the best 90 minutes.

Glad I was 'dragged' along by my wife. Once u get past the blue language, the humor is spot on.

Me and my fiance really enjoyed this musical. She has read all three books and I have not, but we both were laughing non-stop throughout the entire show. We can't wait for the next show for book #2!!

The theater size was perfect and the cast of this play was perfect. Hands down...if you liked the books (or didn't, it doesn't matter) you will pee your pants laughing at this take on the series.

Not what I expected but great in its own way

by 20SomethingLawStudent on 10/30/13Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

So, I went into this play knowing what I was getting into, I knew it was a parody, and I knew that there was going to be lots of making fun of the books, but I've got to tell you, I was a little sad/upset at certain moments. Looking back, i realized that it's because when I read the books, despite the pretty atrocious writing, I actually got pretty into the storyline, so it felt a little bit like a personal attack when the play made fun of scenes that I really liked. However, taking my personal feelings of hurt out of the equation, the play was hilarious. It was well-written and pithy, and well balanced between the housewives portion of the storyline, and the reenactment of scenes form the book. The acting was great, and the cast members were obviously very passionate about each one of their roles. It was hard to hear the lyrics at times, because the music overpowered some of the voices. But overall, I'm VERY glad I went, and would recommend this to anyone who has read the books!

    A Joke

by artisticeye on 10/30/13Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

In the book Christian Grey was a handsome, fit man....the play, Christian was totally overweight (I thought disgusting). Anesthasia was a slim girl, the one in the play was very chunky. I did not enjoy the play, was really a waste of money. Very poor props, very low budget, no scenery changes, no red room...where is the stage creativity? Very poorly put together. I was expecting costumes and liveliness as in Chicago and All That Jazz.....I would not even give this show one star.....

50 Shades needs an extended run in Chicago

by MusicalComedyFan on 10/29/13Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Parody at it's BEST! Excellent balance achieved by the writers. A show filled with surprises! Everyone in our group loved the show. But I heard so many people say that they couldn't get tickets for this show. Sounds like you should bring it back for an extended run. I saw it twice, I bet others would too!
