About

The quintessential backstage musical comedy classic, 42nd Street is the song and dance fable of Broadway with an American Dream story and includes some of the greatest songs ever written, such as “We’re In The Money,” “Lullaby of Broadway,” “Shuffle Off To Buffalo,” “Dames,” “I Only Have Eyes For You” and of course “42nd Street.”

Based on a novel by Bradford Ropes and Busby Berkeley’s 1933 movie, 42nd Street tells the story of a starry-eyed young dancer named Peggy Sawyer who leaves her Allentown home and comes to New York to audition for the new Broadway musical Pretty Lady. When the leading lady breaks her ankle, Peggy takes over and becomes a star. With a book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble, music by Harry Warren and lyrics by Al Dubin, this sparkling new production will be directed by co-author Mark Bramble and choreographed by Randy Skinner, the team who staged the 2001 Tony Award-winning Best Musical Revival.

    42nd Street was outstanding!!!

    by Rome14 on 3/23/16Cadillac Palace - Chicago

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed 42nd Street and would gladly see it again. The choreography and dancing were superb. As a matter of fact, these 2 senior citizens may decide to take tap dancing lessons - for me, the second time.

The dancing was spectacular. The revival of this show brought back many good memories. The songs are still swirling in my head. My granddaughters were so excited to see the show and talked about it all the way home. Well done

Fabulous revival of a great Broadway musical. Took my 5year old Grandaudhter. She was totally captivated and sang We're In The Money all the wat home. The cast, choreography, talent was superb. Can't wait for more of the same productions, i.e. Anything Goes etc.

My Mom Loved It, Us too

by LilLila on 3/23/16Cadillac Palace - Chicago

We took my 91 year old mom for her birthday and she was humming and singing the songs the whole time. It was based in her day so the clothes, the hair, the music was all hers. My daughters enjoyed it too. They liked the music and dancing and really enjoyed seeing their grandma so happy. Good job cast, well done!

    Toe Tapping Musical

by Niem on 3/22/16Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I enjoyed every moment of 42nd Street. The dancing, music, costumes, and staging was wonderful. Near the end, when the actors were dancing up and down the steps, was so amazing.

    42nd Street

by Anonymous on 3/22/16Cadillac Palace - Chicago

My friend and I had a nice day off . . . lunch overlooking the Chicago River, then enjoying "42nd' Street." This was my fifth time to see this show, the first in 1986 in Madison, WI, then 2001 and 2002 on Broadway, again in Madison back in 2005 and last Saturday. It's rare to see such a large cast tap dancing and that was definitely a highlight for both of us. I love the music, the story, the very frequent costume changes and the varied sets. All-in-all, a great touring production!

    by mja740 on 3/22/16Cadillac Palace - Chicago

There are not enough adjectives to describe what a wonderful performance 42nd Street was. It was such an upper. The dance numbers were off the charts terrific, filled with great energy, not to mention the costumes were perfect. I loved this show.

Mediocre Production of a Mediocre Show

by BrianCD on 3/22/16Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Dancing was good, but the show is a bit of a snooze. Some weaker leading roles were outshined by some good ensemble members. Vocally weak understudy was very forgetable.
