About

100 gecs, the duo Laura Les and Dylan Brady, planted their flag on the proverbial pop culture moon with the release of the 2019 debut album 1,000 gecs. The innovative album captivated online fan forums and music literati alike with The New York Times calling it, "some of the savviest pop music of the year," and Rolling Stone dubbing it "one of 2019's most exciting debuts." The years that followed saw the St. Louis natives go from unlikely SoundCloud cult heroes to show-stopping wizard-cloaked pied pipers, covering magazines and selling out concerts across the globe. With the arrival of their long awaited sophomore album, 10,000 gecs, in March 2023, 100 gecs appear yet again to be two steps ahead of the curve on the ever-molting pop music landscape. Vulture praised the "intangible and ineffable" sound of the album calling it "high concept pop" and fittingly Pitchfork called it "a perfect outro album for the end of the world" while dubbing it 'Best New Music' in their review. Equipped with stadium-sized anthems like "Dumbest Girl Alive" and "Hollywood Baby" the 10x sized album is road-ready as the band ventures out on their 10,000 gecs world tour.

We waited in line for 1.5 hours

by Jenna on 11/20/21Marquee Theatre - Tempe

We arrived right at 8 when the show started, knowing we might miss some of the headliner but were okay with it. There was a huge line, but no biggie. We stand in line for a while until we finally get to security. We realize we need our vaccination cards, but again, no big deal because we all have them in our bags or on our phones. Turns out, a picture of it is not valid and you need to go into a separate line to go get tested, even though this has worked for other concerts before. No signs were posted about this. We have now lost our place in the main line. Great. Half of us head to the testing line, while half of us continue ahead. The testing section has two lines, line number 1 and line number 2. We get into line number 1, which takes forever to move. We finally get to the front. Turns out, line number 1 is actually the second line for finished paperwork. We just stand there confused and they let us stand there confused until we ask, ¨Do we need to get in the other line?" and they shrug us off. No signs were posted about this. We get in line number 2 (Yeah, the first line is the second line, and the second line is the first line. Am I even making sense?) which again takes forever. While in this line, my friends call and tell us that turns out, bags are not allowed, and they must walk all the way back to the car, but first, they need to walk over to us, which is out of the way, to get our bags as well. No signs were posted about this. Then while we are now line number 1 again (correctly this time) they are taking our bags back to the car, which is obviously parked far for a crowd this large, I realize that my ID is in there, and that the only sign I ever saw during this entire time said IDs were needed. I call my friend, who has now back in the main line, and regretfully inform him that he needs to go back to the car AGAIN. We finally finish the testing, and now we head towards the doors but guess what? Because an hour and a half has passed, and there is no "main line" anymore. Everyone who wasn't sent back (and many were) have gotten into the venue. They scan our tickets, and the only thing they didn't need was my ID, which was the only thing explicitly listed. There was zero information online about what the venue required and there were no signs anywhere to at least let people know what was going on. There was zero organization. What a joke. The show was great, but only because of the performance. The venue was a complete joke. I understand taking safety precautions, and I am happy to oblige, but when dozens and dozens of attendants are being shooed away and there isn't any list of rules, how can you expect people to follow the rules?

The worse concert ever. I wish I never went. Biggest waste of money. Don’t waste your time or money.

    Crazy

by Sosa on 11/19/21Marquee Theatre - Tempe

This is possibly the most diverse and amazing concert I've ever been to. The pit and circle pits was great and the fans were friendly. Most importantly Laura and Dylan put on a great show and I already can't wait to go to the next one.

    More than I expected

by Dream.Weaver.71 on 11/16/21The Echo Lounge & Music Hall - Dallas

Honestly I wasn't looking forward to this show and I was only going as a taxi and escort for my daughter, but it was so much more than I expected. I knew who 100 Gecs was prior just from hearing Alex play them for me, but there was still something about the genre "hyper pop" that just didn't sit well. We walked through the doors and the feelings of welcoming and openness of people was something I haven't experienced since my years in the underground rave scene (yes, I'm showing my age) and the music? While I may not have known the words, I was jumping and bouncing along with the ones who did. Thank you 100 Gecs for having a show where everyone, including this old lady, felt at ease to just be themselves.

    Very fun

by Bdawg on 10/21/21The Pageant - St Louis

Safe venue and easy access to exits, when I left the show early the staff was very kind and overall it was a good place to see a band play; mask procedures were pretty strict and that made me feel even more safe. The venue also has signs up encouraging people to get vaccinated 10/10 would go again

45 min show but still went kinda hard

by kb on 10/13/21Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

They mostly played new songs and their set was only 45 mins which was a bit disappointing. Glad I saw them but wish I knew the set was short beforehand.

    Too short....

by Sammy on 10/13/21Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

I paid over $100 for tickets and then proceeded to drive two and a half hours each way to get to the concert, it was super disappointing that they started at 9:00 and were over by 9:40...

25min opener + 45min headliner (with instruments on only one song total) =FAIL, try harder gecs, I appreciated your intensity but I didn't expect to be back out on the sidewalk before 10pm on a Friday night
