I saw YYNOT the night before this show at Penn’s Peak. I needed the second night. Penn’s Peak is a fantastic venue to see any show. It is this band’s lead guitarist’s favorite venue. The band never disappoints. I go to many concerts, many fine ones at Penn’s Peak. This group is musicianship at its absolute most accomplished and finest. The lead guitarist, Billy Alexander is a prolific and damn good song writer not to mention his guitar skills are insane (try following his fingering!). The bass player, Tim Starace is such a fine player that his bass lines are often front forward in the mix where they should be for such a virtuoso (plus he always has fun onstage!). The drummer, Mike Hetzel…how often do you find yourself fixating on a band’s drummer. In Hetzel’s case you note his effortless precise and innovative style (as with Starace, always looks like he’s having a great time). The singer? Where to start? Patty Pershayla has the powerful and confident voice, the swagger and attitude plus the charisma to pull it all together center stage. She immerses herself in the role. In total, high level musicianship between a group of four who clearly like each other and it shows onstage. It is infectious. They do both spot on Rush covers as well as their own original material from 3 cd’s so far. Make it your business to see them. If you’re a rabid Rush fan or even a mild one, YYNOT is for you.
