It was worth the two year wait

by Tahm on 3/22/22Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - Cincinnati

David's showing his age but he was supported by fantastic band who seemed to love him as much as (or more than) the audience. I'm torn between thinking it's sad that he needed so much help getting on and off stage and thinking it's wonderful that, rather than sitting at home and getting more infirm, he's out in the world sharing his wonderful self. He may not be in his prime but he's still a treasure. The material was great. David's banter between songs was great. Every member of the band was outstanding. The mix was very good way back in row T in front of the sound booth. The last concert I saw at the Ludlow garage didn't have anywhere near the same quality.

    David Sanborn

by WRC on 3/22/22Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - Cincinnati

The Ludlow Garage was such a great location for a concert the sound of the music was far better than the bigger venue that may hole a bigger crowd, as for David Sanborn the years, and time has caught up with him.

    Wonder and Sad

by Nick on 3/22/22Ludlow Garage Cincinnati - Cincinnati

The band was enervating and fun to watch. We had been alerted Mr Sanborn is experiencing post polio events as am I. Unfortunately his post polio events seem related to his wind capacity. Specifically his ability to hold notes or play for any real amount of time. So sad-sad for him and for us. Another great player leaving the stage. 😢

    Nice Show

    by R. O. on 2/28/22Birchmere - Alexandria

The show was nice, the venue was okay. Ticketmaster system continues to malfunction! Needs fixing, to avert unnecessary delay at the gate [2nd time].

Always a great experience with David Sanborn on stage!

by Jazz Daily on 2/28/22Birchmere - Alexandria

In 1976 I first heard David Sanborn and have been a fan ever since. He's an idol and his music introduced me to so many other outstanding musicians and vocalists. Without David Sanborn there would be no Kenny G, no Dave Koz, no Richard Elliot, etc., etc. And think of the riffs with James Brown, Marcus Miller, Bryan Ferry, Michael Stanley, Eric Clapton, Cat Stevens, Roger Daltrey, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Jaco Pastorius, the Brecker Brothers, Michael Franks, Kenny Loggins, David Bowie, Todd Rundgren, Bruce Springsteen, Little Feat, Bob James, James Taylor, Al Jarreau, Pure Prairie League, Kenny G, Loudon Wainwright III, George Benson, Donny Hathaway, Elton John, Gil Evans, Carly Simon, Guru, Linda Ronstadt, Billy Joel, Kenny Garrett, Roger Waters, Steely Dan, the Eagles, The Grateful Dead, The Rolling Stones, and Toto. It's also humbling to see what age and health are doing to this once in a generation talent. The show was a little above average for the high bar David has set through the years. But hell, I heard David Sanborn up close and personal. Who could not enjoy listening to the man who brought the saxophone to such heights. Thanks, David! Be well.

    Very disappointing...Average at best

by JND on 2/28/22Birchmere - Alexandria

He barely played over an hour. The keyboard player couldn't get hooked up. He is at an advance age and can barely move and seems to struggle at times to play the sax. Kind of sad and sorry to him as only a shadow of his former self. He used to be a fantastic showman. We basically heard a drum and guitar solo. Very little playing from him. Very disappointing and unfortunate. Will not go back to see him again.

    So so show

by DB on 2/28/22Birchmere - Alexandria

The show was alright. I felt it was cut short considering they had some equipment issues. We heard more from the other players than from David.

    Sanborn and band jam

by tnelson1208 on 10/6/21Sound Board at MotorCity Casino Hotel - Detroit

First let me say David Sanborn is 76 and appears to have some health issues that cause a severe limp. He leaned against a stool, kind of sat on the stool for 1 1/2 hours. He really struggled to walk off the stage and I hope he is able to live many more years with whatever is ailing him. Now as for the music, what an awesome band. They did all the Sanborn songs I wanted to hear. This included four songs by Marcus Miller. Go see him while you can.

Great show ... but the stage ...

by Front Row on 10/3/21Sound Board at MotorCity Casino Hotel - Detroit

This was my first time ever seeing a show at the Sound Board at MotorCity Casino in Detroit, MI. I got front row tickets, so I was really excited about seeing David Sanborn from up close. When I sat down in my seat, my first thought was, "That stage is so high, I can just barely see the drum kit cymbals." I stood next to it, and I estimate the stage is 5'6" high. There were also speakers placed along the front edge of the stage every ten feet or so that further blocked the musicians. I could only occasionally see the bass player's head and only the upper body of the guitarist. I did have a fairly good view of David though, so it wasn't a total loss. But suffice it to say, I was really disappointed in my concert experience from the front row.

    A favorite musician

by Susan on 10/3/21Sound Board at MotorCity Casino Hotel - Detroit

It would be difficult for me to be anything but happy listening to one of my favorite musicians! The venue was great. The sound was good. Sanborn sounded good…I could listen to him for hours. I would have liked to know just a little of the warm-up singer. He was very good but no mention of him on the ticket, no name or where he is from. He had a great voice and I’d love to hear more from him.
