Rob Thomas Concert Schedule

The impassioned voice behind post-grunge chart-topper Matchbox Twenty, Rob Thomas has also enjoyed a successful solo career kick-started by a collaboration with the legendary Carlos Santana. The singer-songwriter typically jumps between both of these musical worlds on tour, performing his own more polished pop-oriented material alongside new interpretations of his band's most-cherished emotive rock hits, while also showcasing his unique dance moves and compelling storytelling abilities. There have been plenty of opportunities to see Rob Thomas live over the years. He has embarked on headline treks to support all of his studio efforts, as well as a Special and Intimate Performance tour in 2014 and a series of joint shows with the Counting Crows in 2016.

Rob Thomas Background

Born in Landstuhl, West Germany, in 1972, Rob Thomas moved with his family to the US as a baby and lived a relatively nomadic childhood before settling in Orlando aged 11. Inspired by the country music of Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash, he began penning songs and performing in various cover bands as a teen, and in 1993 formed Tabitha's Secret, the group which would eventually evolve into Matchbox Twenty. As the frontman and chief songwriter, Thomas guided the band to phenomenal success, with 1996 debut, Yourself or Someone Like You, selling 12 million copies, and 2000 sophomore, Mad Season, spawning a number one single, "Bent." But Thomas' crowning glory arrived in 1999 when he teamed up with Carlos Santana on "Smooth," the three-time Grammy winning chart-topper which was later announced as the second-biggest US hit of the 20th century. Thomas launched his solo career proper in 2005 with Top 10 single "Lonely No More" and its parent album …Something to Be, a surprisingly poppier affair which drew comparisons with Justin Timberlake. Thomas spent the next decade alternating between Matchbox Twenty and his solo career. In 2012 he released album North with Matchbox Twenty. In 2009 he released his second solo album, C radlesong, followed by The Great Unknown in 2015. Fans can keep up to date with all things Rob Thomas by following him on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The Rob Thomas/Sidewalk Angels concert was awesome. The venue was small and intimate. Rob was very excited and sounded awesome. The band was amazing. And all of the fun and enjoyment benefited homeless animals which is as good as it gets.

Rocking the Night, saving the animals

by Neon Lady on 1/16/24Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena - Atlantic City

This concert was amazing! The band was amazing. It felt so good to hear Rob's solo stuff again. The VIP was a bit crowded and didn't feel like the previous years' more intimate VIP experiences. But I loved it and definitely would do it again.

    Rob and MB20 never disappoint!

by Texasgirl on 1/19/23Borgata Event Center - Atlantic City

This was a Sidewalk Angels benefit concert and was the second of his concerts I attended for the weekend. Two nights, two different setlists. Guest appearances by Jimmie Allen and the whole MB20 band. The concert started with a quiet vibe and lethargic audience. Drummer Abe was out sick, and so I assumed the whole night would sound like a one-on-one acoustic set. That wouldn't have bothered me at all. I wish the Borgata events center would use their imagination with the room setup...they could have easily extended a runway out into the audience so that sections 100 and 500 wouldn't be so far into the wings...but that's more about them and not Rob. After a break, the whole MB20 band appeared (a first for a Rob Thomas concert) and the crowd went insane!! Three years of Covid sadness ended with the sound of Rob's voice and his presence in front of an adoring audience. If you were ever a fan of Rob or MB20, go see them when MB20 tours this summer.

Excellent 10th Anniversary show with surprises

by bobonthejob on 1/19/23Borgata Event Center - Atlantic City

Show started off somewhat somber and he played 11 songs before an intermission, when he came back he introduced the rest of Matchbox 20 and the place erupted in screams. Great bonus set by Matchbox 20

    Great show!!

by K. L. on 1/19/23Borgata Event Center - Atlantic City

Rob's drummer had to leave unexpectedly, but the first half of the show with Rob and Jimmie Allen was great!!! They made some adjustments but it was still great. The second half with Matchbox Twenty was nothing short of amazing. After a 3 year hiatus from touring, they still brought the energy they always have!!

    Amazing

by JenO on 1/19/23Borgata Event Center - Atlantic City

Rob Thomas is my favorite and the show was amazing. I love his songs and he sounded great. We were attending expecting just Rob and 1/2 through the show surprised us by bringing out the whole Matchbox 20 band for the remainder. What an awesome surprise. Can’t wait to see them perform later this year.
