Celtic Thunder in Concert

Seeing Irish musical phenomenon Celtic Thunder in person offers more than you might expect from a typical concert. The settings and showmanship are akin to a Broadway theatrical production, with a wealth of musical talent at the center of it. The five singers who make up Celtic Thunder are all enormously gifted vocalists, and their blend of Irish folk flavors with pop is a carefully concocted brew. But you get something extra when you see them live in concert. The elaborate stage visuals that accompany Celtic Thunder's performances are an essential part of the proceedings, leading the group to capture many past productions on CD and DVD. The combination of musicality and theatricality has made the group an international sensation since their start in the late 2000s. Every tour is a unique production unto itself: from 2008's The Show to 2012's Voyage, 2013's Mythology, and now their 2018 tour, X.

Celtic Thunder Background

The foresight of producer Sharon Browne first brought Celtic Thunder together. Browne’s vision combines the talents of five young, world-class Irish vocalists for a project that is as much about live performance as recordings, and creating a sound that keeps traditional Irish music at its core, while opening itself up to other influences—including contemporary pop/rock, spirituals, and holiday music. Ryan Kelly, Damian McGinty, Paul Byron, George Donaldson, and Keith Harkin made up the original quintet that formed in Ireland in 2007. On early albums like ‘Celtic Thunder: The Show’ and ‘Celtic Thunder: Act Two,’ they established an approach that appealed to a broad cross section of music fans, and they performed concerts that brought elaborate visuals and bold theatricality into the mix. Today only Kelly and McGinty remain from the original lineup, but Celtic Thunder continues to be an international sensation, and the group's peerless vocals and unbridled showmanship remain on point.

I absolutely loved every single second ! I didn’t want the show to end This was my first time seeing Celtic Thunder but not my last

  • Beautiful voices but not enough Irish songs.

by Jessica on 10/22/25Fred Kavli Theatre- B of A Performing Arts Center,Thousand Oaks - Thousand OaksRating: 3 out of 5

These men can sing! No doubt about it. They all have such beautiful voices. I was very disappointed with the song choices though. Only a few Irish songs were sung. I was hoping more for an Irish concert, with more traditional Irish songs. We drove over two hours to see this concert, only to be disappointed. I’m a huge follower of Celtic Thunder and will support the lads, but I do not care for the direction the live performances are going. I’m glad I bought their new cd. The songs on the cd are much better than their concert song choices.

  • A new and fresh show

I’ve seen many Celtic Thunder shows over the years. This year was a surprise with a new musical director, new arrangements, and many new songs. The show was entertaining, fun and full of energy. Vocals were excellent and the singer’s enthusiasm on stage could be felt by the audience. A wonderful evening of entertainment.

  • Celtic Thunder Review

by Carol Michalski on 10/7/25Rialto Square Theatre - JolietRating: 5 out of 5

Attended the show with family. One of us had seen performance in Branson, MO a number of years ago. Others in our party were first timers. Show was excellent!! Very upbeat, great choice of songs and harmonies were spectacular. Seems like the group truly enjoys their performances and will make sure when they are back in town we book tickets again. Thank you for a fabulous evening!!

  • Not as good as they used to be

by JT on 10/7/25Packard Music Hall - WarrenRating: 3 out of 5

In an effort to “modernize”, the new musical director has scrapped the type of songs the group is known for. Also, the soloists were drowned out by the band.

  • Back to basics

by Lynn on 10/7/25Rialto Square Theatre - JolietRating: 4 out of 5

Was a fun show. Wish Celtic thunder would bring back the full team . Missing the old days when they had the harp & the cello. And truly miss not having ryan kelly in the group.

  • It was great fun

It was easy to check in as never used mobile tickets before. Loved the guys with Celtic Thunder. They were very entertaining & funny. Only thing I wish performers at the Rialto would realize is that the acoustics there are so great that they don’t need many speakers or loud volume. My Dad ushered for Rialto in the 70’s & would tell them this.

  • Loved the Show

Great feel good show! Left you wanting more and could have listened to them for hours more!
