    Ten Stars

by Desi on 11/15/22Bardavon 1869 Opera House - Poughkeepsie

First .. just to be at the Bardavon is amazing feel with comfy well spaced seats with leg room, easy, close parking and the HD viewing on a HUGE SCREEN gave the performance a 3D view with full attention of every facial expression, jester and most importantly the sound quality to enjoy the words along with the score. Sub titles were clear and no rush to read through before they disappeared. The behind the scenes interviews were priceless along with the 2 intermissions that were just the right amount of time to have a choices of beverage, wrap or snack.. All volunteers were attentive and completely focuses on guests enjoyment. This was my first expereice with a "broadcast" performance with no regrets and will be choosing others for the upcoming season.

    A terrific experience

by BB on 11/15/22Bardavon 1869 Opera House - Poughkeepsie

This was my first time to attend a broadcast of an opera in a theater. It exceeded my expectations at every level. The quality of the performance, the quality of the broadcast, and the Bardavon Opera House itself were all excellent. Of course, I expected the Met to stage a magnificent opera but the most surprising thing was how the camera zoomed in for close ups that you simply don’t have in live theater. Will still want to attend in person in the future but this was a pleasant surprise.

    Wonderful Representation of La Traviata

by Katz2801 on 4/25/17San Diego Civic Theatre - San Diego

We took our teens to the Opera and I have several things I liked very much: Costumes, Scenogragphy, Corrine Winters (Traviata)´s voice was impecable and she was able to bring such a feeling into it. She really made me cry for the scene with Giorgio where he asks her to leave and for the last scene. She is able to bring the dramatic and painful notes to her voice and acting impecably and her clear dominance of the music scale going up and down was amazing. Her musical sighs during "Sempre Libera" were just exactly what that scene needed, with the right amount of volume. Total control on her impecable voice. Giorgio Germont was another fantastic voice and together with Violeta they are able to bring such emotions into the scenes. BRAVO!!!! Everything was brought to life with such elegance it was so nice to watch. BRAVO Martha Domingo!!! Jesus García (Alfredo) is a little less experience and with this he was off in a couple of moments...I guess he still needs to shake the nervousness... The rest of the cast was good.

    La Traviata at Bergen PAC

by ScarletKnight83 on 4/13/14Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

Hea-Ran Kim was superb as Violetta, especially during the opening act during the drinking song. Oswaldo Iraheta was a bit weak as Alfredo, however I was pleasantly surprised by the other cast members, especially Jonathan Scott as the elder Germont. All in all, the best performance I have seen at the Bergen PAC .

My wife & I thought the opera was very well done. The tone was set early and carried from there. Looking forward to my next opera, most likely at Bergen Pac again.

    Traviata done right

by LarryKathy on 4/9/14Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

This was a "traditional" Traviata which I much prefer to modernized versions. Show was excellent in all respects (singing, acting, sets and choreography) and orchestra was top notch. Violetta and Alfredo's father (Giorgio) were especially well sung. I took my 2 granddaughters (11 and 12) who are not familiar with opera and they both loved it. Only negative was three intermissions. Should have combined acts 3 and 4 with just brief scene change. For the price and convenience of the theater the NJPAC opera productions can't be beat.

    Traviata was amazing!!

by Loveopera1 on 4/9/14Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

Performance equal to any show at the Met. It is obvious we have great performers on this side of the Hudson River. Hea-Ran Kim was incredible. Her voice was amazing and her acting was right on the spot. Jonathan Scott, however, stole each and every scene he was in. Great show! Looking forward to see La Boheme in the fall.

    LaTraviata was fabulous

by Topaz53 on 11/23/13Detroit Opera House - Detroit

The story was exceptionally told by the cast. The music was moving. This is only my 2nd opera and I thoroughly enjoyed the performance from the sets, the orchestra, and the cast.
