    Great performance within limited budget

by hdeznoa on 11/17/10Colony Theater - Miami Beach

We all now Miami Opera limited budget, they recognize that. Even with this limitations they were able to present a great performace that my wife and me enjoyed very much. We liked from begning to the end. The soprano and the rest of the staff were up to the task. We liked very much and look forward for future Miami Luyric Opera presentations

    Nice little theater

by bradwilliams1983 on 10/11/10Colony Theater - Miami Beach

This is a great little opera house with a lot of bang for the buck. Mostly student and JV performers but they were very good for what they are. This is Soth Florida's only opera house and it should be saved.

    Traviata was great

by Orietta on 10/11/10Colony Theater - Miami Beach

I enjoyed it very much. The singers were fantastic. This was the second event I went to. I was afraid that I would not enjoy it as much. I was wrong they were both great.

    Found a lyric treasure

by Amalio on 10/11/10Colony Theater - Miami Beach

We were extremely surprised about the degreee of sophistication of this representation. Susana Diaz dominated gracefully the stage with her delivery and acting. Nelson Martinez did an outstanding job at the MET level. We have seen him at Grateli and always does an outstanding job. David Pereira has a beautiful tenor voice. With limited number of musicians, the orchestra did a superb job, they created the perfect ambiance for all the acts of La Traviata. Wonderful experience. Bravo!!!!!!! Cannot wait for next program.

    Amazing!

by operabuff on 10/9/10Colony Theater - Miami Beach

Once again, the Miami Lyric Opera has outdone itself. The voices and projection truly outstanding. The sets looked real and the music superb! Somehow, I enjoy this smaller, intimate opera more than the larger, Florida Grand Opera. It is truly amazing what they are able to do with a smaller budget. I recommend this opera performance to all opera buffs and any neophytes who want an opera experience. Go and enjoy!!!

It was average. If you don't go with high expectations you might enjoy the program.

Greensboro Opera presents Verdi's La Traviata

by Anonymous on 11/14/09Greensboro Coliseum Complex - Greensboro

The opera was wonderful. Jennifer Black 's role of Violetta was outstanding. She had such artistic control of her voice. No mistakes (Don't know how she sang with such clarity lying down!!) Mark Walters as Giorgio Germont took control of the stage with his presence alone, not withstanding his baritone voice. The first act was good but once Mr. Walters took the stage the opera "took off" and was spellbinding. His performance of the aria "Di provenza il mar" received a Bravo! from one listener as soon as the last note resounded. My sentiments exactly. The Greensboro Opera needs this man in every operatic performance.

I was completely blown away by this opera. The range of talent was quite intense and I can't even count the number of times I cried due to the beautiful singing and great acting abilities given by the cast. It was a night I will never forget.

Just Fabulous!!!! Jennifer Black- a super star in the making- what a magnificent voice - what an experience to hear her sing- she carried the performance I can't wait to see her starring at the Met and around the world in the future Because of the great talent of Jennifer Black and Mark Walters ,you didn't mind the minimal sets Too bad there was only one performance

    La Traviata was Awesome

by Gemof57 on 11/14/09Greensboro Coliseum Complex - Greensboro

Although the set decorations were minimal and at the beginning the subtitles were too small and difficult to read (corrected later to enlarge) the voices more than made up for the lack of pageantry. Thank you to all the supporters of Greensboro Opera who brought these fantastic artists together for a wonderful evening. Jennifer Black (Violetta) was absolutely wonderful and Chad Johnson did a superb job. Mark Walters as his father Giorgio Germont was excellent and the supporting cast did an absolutely fantastic job. I can't wait until next year!
