    Incredible Show

by Kelzbelz on 5/17/24West Herr Auditorium Theatre at West Herr Performing Arts Center - Rochester

I fell in love with this musical when I first saw it on Netflix. This version had some differences but it was still incredible and hilarious. The only issue was the sound several times cut in and out. But when it all worked it was so good I had chills and cried in happiness. Just so impressed with the cast, especially the actor playing Donkey. He was the best singer on that stage.

    Shrek Broadway vs Shrek Hershey

by Denise on 5/16/24Hershey Theatre - Hershey

My daughters and I saw Shrek on Broadway in 2009! This show at Hershey was not as good! We did not enjoy the puppets, why not let the girls represent themselves as Fiona? Also some of the words were changed in the songs which made it not as funny. I have a feeling political correctness made the change these days.

    Fun and Relaxed

by Veronica on 5/15/24West Herr Auditorium Theatre at West Herr Performing Arts Center - Rochester

The show was a fun retelling of the classic story, they included all the iconic lines from the movie. A small cast but they rocked it.

    Disappointed

by brownbkim on 5/15/24West Herr Auditorium Theatre at West Herr Performing Arts Center - Rochester

Disappointed with the new script. The last time I saw this show, it was hysterical. The singing and dancing were done well, but the punch lines were delivered poorly. Sad when the only part that was funny, was the burping and farting. Previously at the end of the show, everyone got up and danced. This time was very disappointing. Sorry that I took my daughter as a birthday gift. We always enjoy our shows together. Not sure about this one.

Actors did their best with Low Budget

by PR on 5/14/24West Herr Auditorium Theatre at West Herr Performing Arts Center - Rochester

The actors were fine but the original Broadway production was reworked and stripped for all is parts resulting in costumes, staging, set design that looked and felt cheap. A better use of time would be to watch the pro shot on youtube.

    Room for improvement....

by Biased on 5/14/24West Herr Auditorium Theatre at West Herr Performing Arts Center - Rochester

So we went into this show with very high hopes but my children were very much underwelmed. There were so many songs left out from past performances and the puppet thing was a bit weird. My children have streamed the musical for years and this was such a disappointment. Fiona had a great voice but we think she could have gone harder. She even pulled the pages from the book softly. Farquad was a great actor but his voice was weak and his songs were cut. We didn't even get his backstory.

Excellent show, but not “Broadway” quality.

by Jactripp on 5/13/24Broome County Forum Theatre - Binghamton

I was very excited to see Shrek The Musical, as I’ve seen high school productions as well as the actual Broadway production on TV. This was a different interpretation I was not prepared for. The first major difference was the use of puppets as replacements for the younger versions of Shrek and Fiona. This was really odd. And the puppets were a bit scary. The scenery was very minimal. Scene changes were non existent, other than adding props to allude to a different part of the story, or lighting changes for time of day. Then there was Lord Farquad. Traditionally he is played by a normal sized man on his knees making him short. Their actor was normal sized, so the short jokes were eliminated, instead focusing on his feminine hair and qualities. Overall, the show was fun and the actors extremely talented, but was a different version of the original Broadway production.

Yikes - I def did not “fall in love all ogre again”

by Jas on 5/13/24Broome County Forum Theatre - Binghamton

This is probably…definitely the worst show I’ve ever seen. It was painful to sit through this, honestly. Dismal set, chopped up plot, missing songs, technical issues, lacking costumes…I could go on. Let me preface this by saying I have absolutely nothing against the actors, who were actually quite talented. But I’m truly not sure how this show, when thinking back to the Broadway & OG tour productions, ended up like it is today, especially since the original creators were involved. This was truly equivalent to something my high school would have put on.

    So cute!

by Laura on 5/13/24Broome County Forum Theatre - Binghamton

While it was a little different than I expected it was fantastic! We all loved it and talked about our favorite characters and parts the whole way home. We were a group ranging from 8-43 years old and everybody really enjoyed the show. Cast was awesome, very well done. Thanks for a great Friday evening with the kids!!!
