Shrine Circus on Tour
For more than a century, the Shrine Circus has dazzled audiences around the U.S. with family-friendly delights. Shriners chapters all over the country sponsor these circuses annually, offering their members a chance to reach out to the community and giving children of all ages the chance to see thrilling stunts and exotic animals at reasonable prices. The Shrine Circus has been a bedrock of many American communities' yearly calendars for decades, creating a long-lasting tradition that builds bonds both in and between families.
Shrine Circus Background
Established in 1872, Shriners International has been one of America's premier fraternities promoting fellowship and brotherhood. Known throughout the world for their philanthropic efforts with Shriners Hospitals for Children, which offers sliding-scale medical services to children in need of orthopedic, cleft lip and palate, burn, and spinal injury care, the Shriners have also been beloved for the circuses they put on around the country.
Similar to the mission of the Shriners Hospitals, the Shrine Circus puts the idea of affordability for all families front and center. The first Shrine Circus was held in 1906 in Detroit at the Moslem Shrine Center. Since then, Shrine chapters all around the country have put on their own versions of the big show. While the circuses are more often held inside arenas than under big tops, attractions remain familiar, varying from city to city but usually including massive elephants, kooky yet friendly clowns, and high-flying acrobats.
Circus stars like the Wallendas, Clyde Beatty, and the Zacchinis have all been included in the Shrine Circus' past lineups. In 2019, the Detroit Shrine Circus featured the Dominguez Motorcycle Stunt Show, made up of former Ringling Bros. daredevils who perform death-defying tricks while encased in a steel globe. The St. Paul Osman Shrine Circus is the longest continuously running Shrine Circus in the U.S.
Loved it! Kids loved it! Family oriented show for all ages!!
The kids loved it! It was great to have such close access to the clowns and the animals and all the acts. We did miss the dog and big cat acts they had in past years.
Intermission was WAY TOO LONG. Allowing kids to continue camel, elephant and pony rides plus face painting dragged the circus too long. Perhaps increase the time for all this money making opportunities BEFORE the circus starts.
It was awesome. We had a great time. I have not been to a circus since I was little. I am know 51. We hat a great time. Hopefully can do it again next year.
My grandkids and I absolutely loved it! All the performers were great. The only reason i didn't give a 5 star rating was because the animal rides were ridiculously high. My grandchildren wanted to ride the elephants, but when i asked what the price was, they told me$20 per child. After spending $36 for each ticket, and $10 for two bottles of water, there was no way I could spend $60 for my grandkids to ride. Even the face painting was $10. There should be something on the floor that is free for the children whose parents can't afford it.
Fantastic experience! My wife and I had a wonderful time at the circus. The acrobatics was amazing and the comedy routines were hilarious. The family atmosphere was such a positive. Would go back in a heartbeat.
Circus was great. Kids enjoyed it. Pleasant and fun experience.
I got to go to the Shriners circus with my family and it was fantastic! I got to see clowns and elephants, Shriners and acrobats! Freestyle bike riding, and a motorcycle on a tightrope, wow!! The camels and ponies were pretty cool too! I even won a prize at intermission! It was one of the best days I’ve ever had! Thank you Shrine circus!! 🐪❤️🤡🐘
I was excited to take the kids because I remember going to the circus was always something I love definitely a lot more dancing and other things and really what I thought it was going to be definitely for kids about five it was hard to keep them in they did not have the animals are a lot of The things I remember growing up
The tickets were affordable and the view where we were at was amazing! We had an amazing time and enjoyed every event at the circus! We love coming every time to see the performance and has never let us down for an awesome experience each time!
I haven’t been to a circus since a kid I took my 2 year old and I enjoyed myself more than he did ! All performances were top tier ! I loved it .
Location is great, but the event was terrible. Food and drinks way to expensive. We paid $12 for a plastic cup of beer. The music was an old recording and could not here the speaker. Face clown painting was a hit.
A Birthday gift for a cousin and she said “Best Birthday she ever had!” Great family fun and entertainment. Very talented.
The show was very fun - started on time and ran for about 3 hours with a 20-30min intermission. Performers were very good, kids loved it. I would say the ring masters singing at the intro was off, some of the audio stuff didn’t flow great, but I’m not going to complain. I went two or three years ago and thought that show was better, but this was still good. I’m not a big animal activists, cause I eat animals, but I will say I could do without them in the circus. The human acts are way more impressive.
Well run event. The circus was great and many good workers helped to keep things running smoothly. We enjoyed the circus alot and look forward to seeing next year. Thanks for coming to Fargo!!
Didn't get to stay. My son got overstimulated as soon as we walked in the door.
Ringmaster kept telling the crowd how many changes had been made over the last two years. Wasn't impressed. No tigers like were advertised on their posters. Rogue elephant that scared a lot of people. Not worth the money.
We were all very disappointed there were no tigers as that is ine of our favorite parts. We sat in the very front row and when the elephants were coming out they started blowing up the inflatable landing pad and it blocked our entire view of the elephants. This was disappointing because the elephants are our other favorite part.
Definitely did not enjoy it as much as last couple years. Will always return with my kids just wish it would of been more interesting.
We had a blast our 3 yr old granddaughter had so much fun. We loved the Flying Cortez, the Dogs , the wheel scared me but it was great. All the performers were FANTASTIC! The camels & elephants were awesome. The only complaint I have is the price of the elephant rides.20$ for a 3 yr old is a bit much. Try this: 20$ 16 & up, 10$ for everyone else. Thank you so much for the WONDERFUL DAY 💜
