About

Kevin James began his career as a stand-up on the Long Island comedy scene. After being discovered at the 1996 Montreal Comedy Festival, he signed a network development deal to create his own sitcom.

The King of Queens, which premiered in 1998, ran for nine seasons on CBS with James starring and executive producing, and it garnered him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. The show concluded its run in 2007 but continues to air daily in syndication across the country and around the world. James also starred in, and executive produced The Crew, a sitcom set in the world of NASCAR and is currently developing a single camera comedy (both for Netflix).

James brought his stand-up act to TV with Sweat the Small Stuff, a one-hour special for Comedy Central. Kevin James and Ray Romano executive produced and starred in the HBO Sports Special Making the Cut: The Road to Pebble Beach; a documentary about the Pebble Beach Pro Am Golf Tournament that was nominated for a Sports Emmy. His second comedy special Never Don't Give Up premiered on Netflix to critical acclaim.

James was the producer, co-writer, and star of the hit comedies Paul Blart: Mall Cop 1 & 2, Zookeeper, and Here Comes The Boom. James made his feature film debut in Columbia Pictures' Hitch starring opposite Will Smith, and starred alongside Adam Sandler in Pixels, Grown Ups, Grown Ups 2, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, and Hubie Halloween. He starred in the feature True Memoirs of an International Assassin for Netflix, the independent action thriller Becky, and starred in and produced Home Team for Netflix.

A superstar in our small neighborhood

by Scooter on 5/21/24Chevalier Theatre - Medford

I don’t often feel Star Struck, but I certainly did this time when Kevin walked out. He made small talk to start and it just eased us into the show. He had the crowd at his fingertips the whole show, perfect pace, and a master at a seamless delivery. I think he’s a top shelf comedian.

    King of Queens in Medfa!

by KOD on 5/21/24Chevalier Theatre - Medford

Funny opener from NY warmed up the crowd before KJ came out. Got everyone laughing, a real polished stand-up. Kevin James strutted out to music and looked a bit hefty, but perfect for how we love the “regular” guy that everyone can relate to. His stuff was more storytelling based, but funny stuff all the way thru. His bit about hitting the Wendy’s drive thru was hilarious! First time at the Chevalier in Medford. Charming old place with plenty of free parking nearby in lots and on street. Theater itself was hot, so dress light or in a layer you can take off. Seats are wooden and uncomfortable, even with the rubber “cushion” they provide for everyone. All in all, good night of laughs.

    Was expecting much more

by Medford on 5/21/24Chevalier Theatre - Medford

I was disappointed Kevin James only did fat jokes (about himself) for 70 minutes. Funny but got old.

    Good not Great

by Joey on 5/21/24Chevalier Theatre - Medford

Went to the Kevin James matinee performance on Saturday 5/18/2024, at the Chevalier Theatre in Medford, MA. Kevin performed for about an hour and fifteen minutes and was very good but not great. Most of his routine was self deprecating and revolved around his weight. It appeared he might have been a beat off as he referred more than several times to notes, that may have been contained in a phone or tablet, that was placed on a stool, and concealed by 4 plastic water bottles. The pause in his routine as he referred to the notes made the performance seem a bit choppy. I admire Kevin for not relaying on vulgarity in his routine. It was refreshing to hear a comedian that doesn’t say the F word every other word. . I hope that most of my criticisms are the result of attending the matinee performance which more than likely was a warm up for the evening show. It was also my first time at the Chevalier Theatre and thought it was a step below other similar venues in the area like the Hanover in Worcester and the Lynn Auditorium.

Kevin James at the Chevalier Medford Ma.

by Grumpy on 5/21/24Chevalier Theatre - Medford

The venue was very clean and well organized. They moved a very long line in a short time. The snack bar area was again well organized well staffed and service was quick and efficient. Prices were a little high but well poured. The opener was great and Kevin James did well planned funny show. Was not as long as I anticipated but overall a great time. I would attend another show at the venue and definitely see Kevin James again.

Good show but too short. Repeated jokes from last year.

by Kim on 5/21/24Chevalier Theatre - Medford

Good and funny show. However, it was much too short (about 1 hour) for the money I paid for my tickets. He also repeated some of the same jokes he used when I saw him at a show in Boston last year. He is a comedian on tour and should have all new material!
