About

Comedian and Actor Vir Das has hit the global comedy mega-leagues thanks to his boundless comedic talent, wildly successful world tours and incredible four Netflix specials. His latest special, Landing, premiered on the streamer on December 26, 2022 with Decider praising his "refreshingly different take on our current obsession with "punching up" and "cancel culture"" and Paste Magazine gushing "even if he's sending barbs someone's way, his criticisms are packaged up so beautifully that you're simply in awe until they hit their mark." Vir taped the special in New York City after a hit run at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival where The New York Times declared 'no artist embodies the globalization of stand-up like Vir Das." Vir's third Netflix special Vir Das: For India garnered an International Emmy-nomination for "Best Comedy" in 2021.

As India's biggest stand-up comedian and a Bollywood star, Vir was the second best-selling live act in the country in 2022. He has increasingly gained worldwide appeal through his various international tours as well as his beloved appearances in multiple comedy fan-favorite films and TV series. He starred in Judd Apatow's feature The Bubble on Netflix as well as the ABC spy dramedy Whiskey Cavalier in the role of "Jai Datta" opposite Scott Foley and Lauren Cohen. Vir has created, produced, and starred in multiple series, including the scripted thriller Hasmokh for Netflix and the unscripted travel show Jestination Unknown for Amazon. He is also the lead singer for India's premiere comedy-rock band Alien Chutney.

    Fun, engaging, smart

by Emily C on 2/6/24The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

I got tickets because i love Vir Das on netflix. He did not disappoint and it felt good that he has connections to Chicago. The audience was about 70% Indian which was cool, but there were many references that went over our heads. No biggie. We enjoyed the show and enjoyed the Indians enjoying seeing the Indian people enjoying what went over our heads.

    Meh Show

by Sunny on 2/6/24Moore Theatre - Seattle

What started out promising felt after a bit as though Vir was winging it on the spot. Oddly enough he decided to suddenly turn on all the lights in the theater and got off the stage and sat in the audience for a good 10 mins. To the rest of the audience especially those in the balcony, we were left bewildered wondering if we were there for a podcast instead since the performer could not be seen. It broke the flow of the performance and some of us could not recover from it. We’ll give this one a miss next time.

    Inspiring, heartfelt, hilarious!

by Destini on 2/5/24Moore Theatre - Seattle

Wasn’t sure what to expect being a white girl and going to see an Indian comic but Vir Das made me feel like I was included in all the fun! His stories are inspiring and always with a funny twist or words of wisdom. Despite not being from India, he really has a way with his words that made me feel like I got a glimpse of what it’s like and can enjoy the stories just as much as everyone else! Love it! Love him!

    Good but crude

by ABCD on 2/5/24Moore Theatre - Seattle

Need to have thick skin and an open mind for this shiw. Lots of political jokes. Got really personal about his struggles . Tried new material for his next special. Spent some time in audience with was not viewable from the mezzanine in our theater. Tied his end jokes together too his opening jokes. Tough to tell if he improvised a portion of his bit or if it was orchestrated as he spent several minutes. Ragged on Gen Z. Used quite a bit of profanity in both Hindi and English which was ok by me.
