    Mixed

by Oly on 12/2/23Grand Sierra Resort and Casino - Reno

The show was very creative. Fantastic costumes, makeup and talented performers. Audience was the problem with children way to young to even understand or be there for it (literally months old) to the ones that were hollering from the scary parts like Scar and the hyenas. The parts my granddaughter got bored with were the individual singing acts of the young Simba and Nahla along with the talking hyena scenes. Wasn't enough action on stage during those parts to keep her interest and it was hard to hear and understand. She has seen the movie several times so she was familiar with what was going on and overall we enjoyed it. The adult humor that was mixed in was very funny. Thank you for asking.

    Nothing short of spectacular

    by CathyH on 11/23/23

Don't be fooled into thinking this is a kids show. Yes, your kids will enjoy it - but this is more. This is SO much more. When I saw in the program that Julie Taymor (Across the Universe) was the Director, I knew we'd be in for a treat. It did not disappoint. The lighting ... the visuals ... the African rhythms ... the elaborate sets and costumes ... the performances ... all are beyond epic! It's among the best live-stage performances I've ever seen. The actors are also puppeteers, managing not only their dialog, singing and action but also operating their character's animal self. My only regret was not getting seats in the first few sections of the theater where parts of the production take place around you in the aisles. Plus, even in a smaller theater (2,500 seats) we were too far back to really catch the detail of the face art on the characters... although in a way that helped add to the illusion of that character's animal-self. If you get the opportunity to see this production live, don't hesitate - buy tickets ASAP!

    Lion King comes to Reno

by ArubaJim on 11/22/23Grand Sierra Resort and Casino - Reno

After years of this production finally able to see it when it came to Reno, NV for a week of sold-out shows. It was entertaining and quirky with local "Reno"remarks and some new 'jokes' peppered in the dialogue. Energetic cast, interesting character interactions and costumes. lion king

by jowhitta on 11/22/23Grand Sierra Resort and Casino - Reno

The performance was fabulous. The intermission was awful-there was not enough time to go to the bathroom. There was only 18 minutes and not enough facilities. I missed the first number after the intermission. I probably would not choose to go to Reno again.
