About

Music really does have the power to save, and R&B singer KEM has the story – and the Grammy nominations – to prove it. After a troubled adolescence that included homelessness and addiction, the singer turned his life around through music and an interest in spirituality that has informed his sound and songs ever since. In 2013, KEM released What Christmas Means: Deluxe Edition, an album of spiritual songs featuring R&B legend Patti LaBelle on “Jesus” and Ledisi on “Be Mine For Christmas.” Previously, KEM released 3 gold-certified albums in the 2000s through Motown Records, a label that perfectly suits the classic, throwback sound found on successful singles like “Love Calls” and “I Can’t Stop Loving You.” His 2010 album Intimacy: Album III peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, earning him 2 Grammy nominations, including Best R&B Song for “Why Would You Stay.” On the road in 2013 with his What Christmas Means Tour, KEM has been treating ticket buyers to his classy take on holiday spirituality, earning rave reviews for his intimate, inspiring live concerts.

    KEM, Lyfe Jennings, Chrisette Michele

by Miss Coco on 1/17/24Stifel Theatre - St. Louis

Great overall show. Lyfe's performance was a bit rushed but he sounded great. He has such a distinctive voice and great to finally here him sing live. It appears there was not enough time to allow him to complete all of his material. Chrisette was delightful and very wholesome and a delicate umbrella of sensuality. Truly enjoyed her unique style of jazz fusions intermingled with rhythmic soul she shared with her audience a slight bit of innocence. Finally, closing out the nights performance was 'KEM"always a true treat, singing most of all his massive hit music and velvety soulistic jazzy grooves that easily leaves the ladies engrossed in a mythical mind trance that consumes you until you realize the mystic event has ended. Great to hear ''live' music with quality. The only negative side was the audio in some portions of the show, frequency or speakers gave a bit of interference towards the end of the show during the encore; the drums were kinda out of whack. That was instrumental or venue issue.. The artists showed up and performed well. My rating 4.9 out of 5.0. It is worth SEEING as the lineup well complimented each other.

    Alluring

by Lita on 1/17/24Stifel Theatre - St. Louis

I had the best time at the Kem concert, then again, I always do. I will see him every time he visits St. Louis. His show was absolutely brilliant. He even interacted with his audience in a spiritual and humorous way. His band and backup singer was fierce, worth every cent.

    Why would you stay

by Ish on 1/17/24Stifel Theatre - St. Louis

Why.... because the show was amazzzzing! I loved every single artist! Now of course there was a snaffoo here and there with the sound but we understand it was colder than fish nipples but I digress. Lol. Lyfe came in with the energy (could have listened longer but I get it), then Chrisette came with the melodious octaves to make us feel past loves lost, then the night was set off by the illustrious Kem who made sure we appreciated the ones we love! Emaculate show....... oh and shout out to the new Magic 106.9 they threw down as well.

    Great Concert

by Free on 1/16/24Arena Theatre - Houston

The concert started close to the stated time on the ticket. Both acts, Chante Moore and Kem were great. Their vocals are phenomenal and their stage prescience was very good. This was one of the better concerts that I have been to at the Arena Theater. I would recommend anyone who has or hasn't seen these artists to check them out.

Great Artists-POOR sound system, and parking assistance!

by Twinkle T on 1/16/24Arena Theatre - Houston

Both Kem and Chante Moore were great; however, the sound made it difficult at times to hear the words over the extremely loud music.

    Excellent Concert

by plove on 1/16/24Arena Theatre - Houston

I've seen Kem several times. I always look forward to him coming to the Arena. Awesome singer with unique voice and sound. His words of inspiration are always a bonus. Shante Moore was simply amazing!! This concert was even more special because I got to "sing"with Kem and serenade my girlfriend. We all had a good laugh. Thanks to Kem, my girlfriend and I share a very special memory. She hasn't stopped looking at the video and smiling.

    What an enjoyable experience. KEM

by Cece on 1/16/24Arena Theatre - Houston

Chilly Bill music/entertainment during the intermission was an interesting idea… the audience was able to dance in the aisle or in their seats we got engaged and interacted with each other instead of being bored waiting for the the feature artist. It would be very appreciated if the concert can start in time and gave ushers to seat folks as the older audience had difficulty finding their seats at times and thereby blocking view when it all started.

    AH’MAZING FROM START TO FINISH

by RossThaBoss on 1/15/24Arena Theatre - Houston

The show started within 20 minutes of the scheduled showtime. Which is reflects the artists’ appreciation for their fans time. Chante’ Moore’s vocals are in a word, “Otherworldly!” I recently saw her on The Fantastic Voyage and was amazed, but what I witnessed her do on Friday night was in another stratosphere. Dogs all over the world are probably still barking from the impossible notes she sang. KEM then strolled in and took us on a musical journey that outstounded with his crisp, clear vocals. His testimony touched souls. The time flew by and I was sad it ended. I could have listened to both til the sunrise.

Kem and Chante Moore Concert/ Arena Parking

by S BorWill on 1/15/24Arena Theatre - Houston

The concert was amazing but the Arena needs a more organized way of getting people park in a timely manner. I missed 30-45 minutes of the concert because I was stuck in traffic to get into the parking lot for 1 hour. The venue itself is very nice and intimate but if they don’t get a better parking situation I probably will not come back to the Arena.

    Fantastic Love-Filled Concert

by Debbie on 1/15/24Arena Theatre - Houston

Kem and Chante Moore were complimentary artist. Chante did a fantastic job getting the atmosphere ready for Kem. A sweet love-filled environment was in the air. Both artists are wonderful vocalists. My husband and I enjoyed their testimonial sharing. This concert was a perfect 7-year anniversary celebration that allowed us to enjoy Kem again at the venue where we had our first date. The love-filled concert made the travel, from CA, well worth it.!
