About

The one that you want is back!  GREASE, Time Magazine's 2007 pick for "#1 musical of the year," is rockin' across the country in this new production direct from Broadway.  Now starring Laverne & Shirley's Eddie Mekka (Carmine "The Big Ragu") as DJ Vince Fontaine.

Take a trip to a simpler time of poodle skirts, drive-ins, and T-birds.  "Bad boy" Danny and "the girl next door" Sandy fall in love all over again to the tune of your favorite songs: "Summer Nights," "Greased Lightnin'" and "We Go Together" as well as additional songs from the hit movie: "Grease," "Hopelessly Devoted to You" and "You're the One That I Want."

    Great Show

    by 80sMusicLover on 2/19/11F. M. Kirby Center - Wilkes-Barre

Eddie Mekka came out before the show started and performed a few songs with audience participation. He got the whole crowd going with his rendition of Lavern and Shirley's theme song. The play itself was comparable to Broadway (which I also had the pleasure of seeing) An interesting fact, the Broadway show had the winner of the TV show "grease, you're the one that I want, and this show has the one that I thought should have won. Now I have had the opportunity to see both perform and would say the judges had one hell of a difficult choice!

Worst Show I have ever seen! Left at Intermission

by cakitten on 2/19/11Springfield Symphony Hall - Springfield

I was expecting a broadway show. What I got was a middle school rendition. VERY amatuer@ The acting was horrible, the singing was horrific (it was like dying cats were screaming on stage). The show had so many scenes and lines that weren't even in the original and they didn't even sing some of the most popular songs from the movie!! It was like a spoof of the original. Also, the venue was very disappointing. There was feedback in the speakers on multiple occasions! Save your time and money.

    Disappointed in arrangement

by Auburn83 on 2/19/11Springfield Symphony Hall - Springfield

I attended the show with my 26 year old daughter who loved Grease as a young girl but we were both disappointed with the changes from the original production. The stage props were plain and the sound heard from our seats was at time poor. I felt as though the show was just okay, there was no wow factor. On a good note, the Grease Lightin song was great and we also enjoyed the amazing voice of Rizzo played by Lauren Elaine Taylor. The best part of the show that also showcased the most energy was the finale with all the cast. It's too bad that the show lacked that energy throughout the entire production.

My older daughter and my nieces watched the movies years ago and have always enjoyed it and my other daughter who is alot younger loved the movies when she saw it a few years ago so to take them to it was a pleasure for them and me. The performers were wonderful and our seats were great. Thank you we all had a very enjoyable time

    Grease was lots of fun!

by irishfun on 2/18/11Springfield Symphony Hall - Springfield

It was very good and we had great seats. It was different from the movie so it sort of seemed out of order, although it wasn't, just from the movie.

    It's a no go.

    by JenMatt3 on 2/18/11F. M. Kirby Center - Wilkes-Barre

At first I thought that the play was going to be great...but then as time went on, it seemed to drag. The audio wasn't very good and the dialogue was lacking for anything interesting. I found myself in a daze wishing it were over....We left 1 scene after intermission with no regrets.

    Grease Went Up in Smoke

    by Cigs on 2/18/11F. M. Kirby Center - Wilkes-Barre

The performance was above average, however the cigarette smoking (approx. 20) was unnecessary and disgusting. In this day and age it is a shame that electronic cigarettes were not used. I would never have attended if I had known in advance that there would be smoking. Why would the actors/singers want to expose their own vocal cords to smoke ? The smoke also took away from the props. I do not believer that smoking would be allowed in NYC !

    Walked out at intermission

    by Davey321 on 2/18/11F. M. Kirby Center - Wilkes-Barre

Wow...I've seen better performances by high school students. It seemed like a bunch of want to be performers found each other on Craig's list and put the show together for fun. I can't believe I spent money to suffer through the 1st Act. I wouldn't see it again if I were paid to go.

The singing and dancing was extremely professional and well-done. We had a good time! The audience really got into it.

Seems like these performers are tired of singing the same songs over and over again. Also, maybe I'm a little out of the age bracket (23) but who cares about Eddie whoever and why was he given a stand up act before the show started? Just wondering...

    Grease was fantastic!

    by Nyliram13 on 2/17/11F. M. Kirby Center - Wilkes-Barre

This show is well worth the trip. From the warming up of the audience during the preshow to the show itself, it was entirely enjoyable. I would highly recommend this to an audience of all ages.

    Grease was disappointing!!!

by karimac on 2/8/11Peoria Civic Center - Peoria

I am a big fan of the movie, Grease, and I have been looking forward to this event for a long time. The fist issue that I had with the musical is that it was not exactly like the movie (although this is something that the actors and producers couldn't control). As far as the actors themselves, I was disappointed in both the acting and singing ability of the performers. The person that played Marty and Danny were the best singers there. A couple of them "over acted". Lastly, and probably my biggest issue was all of the cigarette smoke in the theater. I understand that everyone smoked during that time frame, but I think that fake cigarettes should have been used. I came out of the show smelling like I was in a bar for three hours!
