Unbelievable! The second act was just simply amazing
An excellent and very well executed rendition of the Nut Cracker.
The show was incredible! There is nothing like seeing the NUTCRACKER with a full orchestra. I see this every year, but this interpretation left out an important seguay....the young girl going to sleep with her Nutcracker doll in her arms and then again waking up with the doll. It was shown in a much odder way than expected. Regardsless....it was an awesome show and I highly recommend it! Worth EVERY PENNY
Having been to many Nutcracker performances over the years, I am sad to say this was the worst one. The sound of the orchestra was overamplified to the point that I thouhgt it was phsically damaging to the ears. In particular, the harpist's output was jarring rather than melodic. The Prima Ballerina, though generally poised and confident, seemed once or twice, to not be in control whn on point. Also, it seems the conductor made some ill-advised modifications to Tchaikovsky's score. His arrangements, to me, disrupted the flow of the music.
It was a really big pleasure to watch Classic Russian Ballet accompanied wonderful orchestra music! I dream of getting chance to see "Swan Lake" on this beautifull stage!
Attended the ballet on 12/15/12. The costumes were beautiful. Enjoyed having a live orchestra. The dancing was well done. I enjoyed the complete experience. Hippodrome was an excellent place to have the event.
What a fun mother-daughter day we had! We drove 2 1/2 hours to see the Moscow Ballet perform the Great Russian Nutcracker in Baltimore. It was amazing! Breathtaking moments ! Delightfully wonderful! Loved it. This is THE Nutcracker like no other. Unforgettable. If a DVD is made of this performance, I would be interested in purchasing it.
The Nutcracker is wonderful for all ages. Beautiful story, beautiful dancing and glorious music! Go.
I bought the most expensive seats at the venue, having seen plenty of Russian Ballet at the Mariinsky, expecting similar performances. What I received was disorganized amateur dancing attempts by the adults and local kids wildly running around the stage. Atrocious. I'm.very sad I wasted both my time and money.
Impressive display of ballet talents...best I've ever seen
After I bought the tickets I found mixed reviews of this performance, and I was very worried. However, I was delighted with the performance from start to finish. The second act was especially wonderful, with a series of couples performing dances of grace and beauty. Different from the Balanchine choreography, but just as good. In this venue there was a live orchestra (some seem to report recorded music) and maybe that contributed to the difference, but there's no doubt that this is a professional and superb group. You'll enjoy.
This is not what we expected from the Russian ballet. Music was very nice, but performance not even close to the expectation. Title is very misleading. This is not what we expected . Better to see Philly or NY ballet.
Was the most amazing show. Truely held your attention. Dancers were phenominal. Would go and see it again.
The show was excellent, talent absolutely amazing, experience was wonderful. Would recommend this to all!! *Would love to see more elaborate sets then just the screens
While the Nutcracker is a time honored Christmas favorite, this presentation was somewhat disappointing. Many of the dancers were not in sync with each other, and the set design was not exciting. The choreography was uninspiring. I felt that the principal dancers could have danced far better than the choreography allowed. I felt that they sent the second string to Baltimore.
Awesome! They made it look so easy, but of course it takes years and years of practice.
Boring show. No life in this classic. The hippo wasn't even decorated for Christmas. If you were knew to the ballet this would be your first and last show.
It was forgettable performance I was expecting more sorry.
Excellent performance by the Russian dancers. Less than sterling with the apparently local orchestra and supporting dancers.
The way to see "The Nutcracker"! By the country who originated it. Really perfect dancing. The Dove of Peace was incredible and the same dancers performed the Arabian dance and stole the show.
