    HORRIBLE

by H.Mach on 4/1/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

The sound was the worst I have EVER experienced in my life at a show, especially for 250.00 tickets. We were extremely extremely disappointed.

“Excellent Show — Discourteous, slobby patrons”

by JoeP on 4/1/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

Really enjoyed the touring production of Cinderella! Always been a fan of Rodgers and Hammerstein, so this was a perfect treat! However, I must say, and not to sound snooty, but as a proud member of AEA and a working professional, I could not believe the slobs en masse in the Main Orchestra seating. Most of the first act I heard a chorus of plastic candy wrappers following a light show of cellphones. People were literally engaging on their phones! I honestly don’t care about other’s March Madness picks or business, I’m here to watch a musical. I even confronted a row of folks a few rows ahead of me at intermission to please turn of their phones as no usher was in sight. An usher was eventually spotted and I did let him know of the situation. I will say the most of Act II was much calmer and easier to watch, but again, I feel something should be done about allowing food, drink, even phones into a theatre. I even told one of the corpulent patrons ahead of me scarfing down lemonheads whilst fidgeting with her phone, “This is live theatre, not the movies or at home watching Netflix.” She just looked aghast as if I was speaking Greek. Again, maybe it’s a generational or societal thing, but I was raised and taught basic manners, especially watching live/professional entertainment. Michigan audiences = very off-putting mentality.

    Very Nice

    by j. m. on 4/1/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

I attended the performance with my daughter and 5 year old granddaughter. I thought it was lovely but a bit too long for a child that young. I was also surprised by some of the twists in the story I would have preferred it to be a little more traditional.

    Excited then quickly disappointed.

by HMF on 4/1/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella has been a classic for many, many years. So why change a good thing? My mom, MIL and I were all pleased the classic songs were playing, however once the message turned into a political statement we were all left confused, annoyed, and angry. The "twist" that was promised in the promotions turned out to be a political agenda. Regardless of where you stand on the political spectrum you should not feel like everywhere you go you are being preached too. Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened here. The second half of the play we could not even enjoy because of this change, so in the future, please put your own political agendas aside (as we don't all share the same view) and stick to the script that has been endeared for years.

The show was amazing! It was a little more geared to an adult crowd. My 8 year old sister still loved it, she was just a little restless

    Cinderella #metoo???

by Katydid on 3/18/19Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

First of all thank you for the opportunity to take our Granddaughters to see this play. Was an enjoyable evening for all four of us. The girls enjoyed themselves and the show. However, it was not the Cinderella that we have come to know, love and grow up with. The need to update a show of this caliber was completely lost on us adults. I completely felt lost in the show and didn't feel it was necessary to reflect a version to reflect today's social issues and or politics. Sad that we can't just enjoy a fairytale story, not everything has to be politically correct. Otherwise the Palace is a beautiful venue and the actors/actresses were great and so were the costumes?

From my own little corner of the theater, this production was beautifully done! It was nearly impossible not to sing about impossibility on the way home. The cast and crew did a wonderful job. We are still amazed at the quick costume transformations, done right before our very eyes! Great job!

    a kid again

by Chris on 3/12/19Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

My wife grew up with this story. I was worried it would not meet expectations nor overcome the good glow of nostalgia that we all wrap our childhood in. Happily I was mistaken, Wife fell in love quickly! The story telling was light and inviting while the set and costumes were entrancing. A very rewarding show, and the laughter if the kids in the audience made it all the better.

    Beyond Wonderful

    by F. C.my3sons on 3/12/19Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

The orchestra, singers, dancers, stage decor, costumes - everything was magnificent. The show is a beautiful opera and should not be interpreted as a child's Cinderella 'story'. The young children became bored and restless after 15 min. and a distraction to those of us around them.

    Outstanding Experience

by Marcie on 3/11/19Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

This was a wonderful musical. Cast was excellent and costumes beautiful. Not your Disney cinderella but still an outstanding story line. And humor to boot. Would give a 5 star but the venue stage was a little small for the impressive dance scene.
