BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born and raised in Detroit, Ross rose to international superstardom in the '60s as leader of the Supremes, the group that became Motown Records' golden goose with an unprecedented ten No. 1 hits between the years 1964-1967. After fulfilling her contract with the group, Ross released her self-titled solo debut in 1970, earning her first Grammy nomination with soul classic "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." Following the success of her first solo TV special Diana!, Ross once again topped the charts with 1973's "Touch Me in the Morning," going on to release a hugely successful duet album with Marvin Gaye later that year. In addition to her chart success, Ross established herself as a skilled actor with acclaimed appearances in classic '70s films including Mahogany and The Wiz. Over a career that spans more than half a century, Ross has released 27 Top 40 singles, earning a Guinness World Record as the most successful female artist of all time.

It started on time, the music sounded great and the stage presentations were on point. Diana Ross captured the audience with bright flamboyant outfits and old school hits. I tip my hat to the organizers: Great job and great artist selection!!

Unfortunately, the corporatization of concerts has all but eliminated that experience. The No table or cooler rule has changed the ambience dramatically. It is now no better than any of the other mega venues in the Atlanta area. Having said that, Diana Ross can still put on a very entertaining show.

Singing hit after hit spanning a 60 year career she radiates joy and love. We sang, danced and were uplifted being in her presence. 90 minutes of pure entertainment!

I am excited to see her again. One of the joys of attending a performance at that venue is bringing in your picnic. I was very disappointed to learn that it was a no-table event, of which, I never received notification. I'm not sure why when I purchased 4 tickets. I am not going to hold that against my review of Diana's performance, but I am disheartened that it happened.

My only frustration was that the Chastain venue website said “gates open at 8p” but that’s also when the concert actually started, so we missed about 25 min, so only say about 65min of concert for $100
