    Best Silent Movie Ever!

by Lin on 10/19/22Embassy Theatre - Fort Wayne

The organist, Dennis James, played the Page theater organ throughout the silent movie version of Phantom of the Opera. Words are inadequate to describe the spectacular performance he provided for the movie. He also gave an extensive review of the history of the film, the Paris Opera House, and the actors. The entire evening was thrilling.

    Different from what i expected

by PhantomJay on 10/17/22Embassy Theatre - Fort Wayne

I was coming into this thinking it would be a more recent rendition with all the singing involved, but it wasn’t until i was at the event i found out it was the 1929 silent film. I love organs and his recital beforehand was very cool, and he did an excellent job matching the movie to the point where it wasn’t noticeable. Very great character! Would do it again

    Amazing!!! First Class!!!

by Kat on 11/4/21Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

This experience was more than I expected. The Alabama Theater is so beautiful. I would have been impressed with that experience alone. But with the addition of being able to watch a classic movie on that screen was a wonderful experience as well. Then, to add the theatrics and the music written especially for the showing, this was a day I will not ever forget. The movie theater food and drink selection was spot on. And last but certainly not least, the organist playing the beautiful and elaborate organ was completely over the top. I cannot wait for my next experience at the Alabama Theater. I have already bought tickets, on the way home as a matter of fact. The cost of the tickets is modest and affordable so I will be going to as many events as I can at this beautifully restored venue. Thank you to all who lovingly made this place possible.

    Excellent—as always

    by S. R. on 11/3/21Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

I took my granddaughter to the Alabama Theatre to see Phantom of the Opera for the first time when she was 9 years old—she’s 17 now and we haven’t missed a year since that first time. It’s become a yearly tradition we look forward to. It never disappoints. And, Tom Helms…oh my goodness…he is absolutely amazing!!!

    Love the Wurlitzer!

    by DELL2021 on 11/3/21Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

The organist is amazing -- and he's performed this 42 years in a row. There's so much to see at this venue. The movie may have been scary when originally released but is funny now.

The only Mask that makes sense

by Phoebe Dinsmore on 11/3/21Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

The 1925 classic Phantom of the Opera..a silent gem..What a production..atmospheric music, ghostly hosts, lights, live music, classic movie… The organist was fantastic and his entrance surprised the audience. No wonder this has been a hit for over 40 years.

by KLH on 10/31/19Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

This was a great experience! Beautiful theatre, classic silent gothic thriller, with the perfect organist on the original Wurlitzer. Fun introduction and finish, too.
