Myself and two friends went to Mohegan Sun Brewfest before covid and we had a great time for an affordable price. We went back this year and were disappointed. First of all, the ticket price went up a lot, $80 this time. But it said there was food as well as drink, so I figured $25 more is worth a meal and I should be eating while sampling beers anyways. The food they offered was laughable, a complete joke. "Samples from great food vendors"actually means you get only five samples from the vendors, and they are each about the size of a Starburst candy. Bears gives you two moink balls, wow thanks! The promise of food was shameful, deceptive advertising and a total farce! There were noticeably less beer vendors and more product vendors peddling their goods. The live music was very good but extremely loud, you could barely communicate with the beer vendors. The line went to get in was long, but it moved pretty quick.
Another good SunBrewfest! Great craft beer and cocktail vendors, all super friendly and helpful about where to locate their brands and different drink recipes. Only complaint is that it's advertised as though your (expensive) ticket includes some amount of food while you are drinking quite a lot of alcohol. You are given a pass for literally five tiny bite samples of food aster waiting on very very long lines. For the price I expected a little better. The "Cocktail Carnival"event in August seemed a much better value with a lower priced ticket and reasonably priced food available for purchase while drinking.
I'd give this a 5 star review but that would mean perfection. So, all-in-all, this was a great event to go to. We enjoyed the variety of beers and seltzers available and the food was excellent. Band was WAY too LOUD. If they had lowered the volume a few notches, it would have been much more enjoyable. The band was super talented and had a wide range of song selections - just TOO LOUD. Will hope to come again another time.
I thought the event was great, but more food options with ticket price would be nice. Just do a pizza truck or something include in price of ticket instead of a bite of something
Tickets were $80 each! Not worth it! Shouldn't be called a beerfest any longer! Only approximately 50% of the vendors were providing beer. The rest were alcohol cocktails.
Sun BrewFest was a blast. Great place to meet up with friends. Lines were NOT too long. The music was great but there was an echo…hard to talk unless close. I liked the sample food idea. Plans to go back next year.
Great venue, and the small food samples are a great idea as well as the music. The beer is the low point at the fest, only a handful of breweries (30 maybe), mostly mainstream and not local, and just pouring the normal shelf beers out of the bottles that you see at any grocery store. Over crowded and not enough focus on the beer.
All though there were a lot of mixed cocktail and seltzer vendors there, the overall experience was great. They have to bring in more local brewers next year.
It was great to be back at the Beer fest after the pandemic hiatus! The event was well organized and they had about 30 breweries that were offering 3-4 choices each. We loved the sours and have definitely added some new favorites to our list. Half way through, we could feel the effects of all the alcohol we had consumed. We decided to slow down and grab a bite to eat. There were about 5 food vendors so quite a few options to choose from. Water was available freely. Overall, we had a great time. Everyone was in a cheerful mood and there was barley a minutes wait in most lines. My only complaint is that they replaced the glass beer mugs with small plastic ones! But otherwise everything was top notch!
